Forums - Microsoft - Ryse: Son of Rome Gets Censored in the U.S.

P.J. Esteves has commented on the possibility of sex scenes in the upcoming Xbox One exclusive title, “Ryse: Son of Rome.” In a video interview with Gameswelt on Nov. 8, the design director hinted that several missions from the action-adventure video game include “risqué portions.”

Although P.J. Esteves can’t talk much about it, he did confirm that there will be some of these sequences in the video game. He went on to state that the sexual contents are “fine” in Germany. However, the development had to “cut some stuff out” for release in the Untied States. You can view several screenshots from “Ryse: Son of Rome” in the slideshow near the top of this article and the comments from the design director below:

Well, let’s just say that there are certain missions in the game that have risqué portions. I can’t talk more about it. It’s fine in Germany. That’s okay in Germany. In the Untied States, we had to cut some stuff out but, yeah, there are some. I mean it’s the Roman Empire, you know, and everyone knows what the Roman Empire was about. So we tried to keep it tasteful but at the same time we also rallied from history, you know, and try to make you feel like you are in that time period. And that’s not a euphemism for something.

The Electronic Entertainment Board recently disclosed that the Untied States version of “Ryse: Son of Rome” features partial nudity and sexual content. Some females in the game appear topless with body paint and pastries covering exposed areas. Furthermore, one sequence also implied a female giving fellatio. No explicit sex scene was mentioned in the rating summary.

P.J. Esteves and the rest of his colleagues at Crytek are responsible for developing “Ryse: Son of Rome,” which was originally a Kinect-only Xbox 360 exclusive video game. The action-adventure title is expected to come out on Nov. 22, the same day as the release of the Xbox One next-generation system.

Ha! Suck it America!

lol sorry but it's nice every once in a while when Germany gets something uncensored for a change. Figured this was nudity related, they're way too stuck up about that in the US.

Oooh Sex Scenes in a video game, so mature

Because FREEDOM of not having to see what the artist made because censorship!

It could warp a tiny little mind.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Hmm... Australia has an R18+ rating for games... I wonder if our version will be fine ?

The more I ear about this game, the more I think it's a God of War plagiarism

So predictable.

Censored in Germany / Europe? Violence.
Censored in the US? Sex.

Lol'd just picturing that the char stumbles about and you gotta input to right command of buttons to not "accidentally" fall into a guys bed and have sex with them.

This kinda just smells a bit of contraversy to try to draw attention away from some of the media attention this game has been getting to me tho, Cryteck know what they can get away with in games, did they just plaster in some full frontal to give it a bit more edgy appeal as a banned game?
