I think one thing is certain, though. Sonic Lost World is NOT a system seller, in any of the three major regions. At least not in it's debut week.

I dont know why anybody thought it would be, the 4 Sonic games on Wii each had debuts of 40-80k when u align the launches of each major region and each had lifetime sales of 1-2.5 million. Lost World appears to have a debut week of 50k+ when adding USA numbers so its tracking right there with the Wii installments.

When Iwata said system seller I dont think he meant tons of people are going to rush to buy a Wii U right when this game releases or that It will have huge first week sales. Instead I believe he meant during the holidays and early next year this game will be one of the key titles that pushes people to buying a Wii U. So maybe Sonic or Mario or Donkey Kong or Wii Party or Wind Waker or Skylanders or Just Dance or Wii Fit or Mario & Sonic Olympics is going to push significant amount of hardware alone  but combined they can make Wii U a worthwhile purchase.

Then he was still wrong as that is the definition of a system seller, a game that can just move consoles.

Maybe the surge of Vita is the result of the Killzone bundle? We get a 3G Vita, KZ:M and a 8GB card for around 190 Euro, which is incredible value. Just buy yourself PS+, LBPV for 12 Euro and a FIFA 13 for 10 Euro and you are pretty much set for a whole year of gaming.

Does VGC add the sales of this bundle to the KZ:M sales if this is just a download code?

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

1) NA is still abysmal for Vita. Deservedly so, I guess, since SCEA have been almost completely ignoring it. Hope the PS4+Vita ads can help it.

2) @Scisca: No, they don't add download codes to sales.

1) Agreed. They get what they deserve to get. I doubt PS4 can really change anything. A console needs games, Sony is pissing on Vita in the West and is surprised people aren't all over it. Someone should fire people responsible for handling Vita in the West and hire someone who can make a PS3-type return possible.

2) KZ:M getting close to 1 mil confirmed!!

no a system seller doesnt have to mean huge front loaded sales, a game with an extremely high attach ratio and long legs can be considered a system seller

no a system seller is just that, it sells systems. Sonic aint it. attach ratio doesnt mean much when the system is selling like crap, that means NOTHING is moving th system. I dont even think Sonic meets any of the criteria for "system seller" that you put up

ya i dont believe Sonic fits that criteria either, my last post is just saying a system seller doesnt have to push a ton of consoles in its debut week. If a game only causes a small boost but the baseline sales increase from that point on then it is still a system seller.

yeah thats fair kind of like GTA5, it sold alot but it did increase sales (at least for PS3) alot put it above 3ds that week at least, has legs so in that regard that would be a system seller. Im just struggling to think why anyone thought Sonic would move anything considering he hasnt since Genesis days and maybe Dreamcast
