I think one thing is certain, though. Sonic Lost World is NOT a system seller, in any of the three major regions. At least not in it's debut week.

I dont know why anybody thought it would be, the 4 Sonic games on Wii each had debuts of 40-80k when u align the launches of each major region and each had lifetime sales of 1-2.5 million. Lost World appears to have a debut week of 50k+ when adding USA numbers so its tracking right there with the Wii installments.

When Iwata said system seller I dont think he meant tons of people are going to rush to buy a Wii U right when this game releases or that It will have huge first week sales. Instead I believe he meant during the holidays and early next year this game will be one of the key titles that pushes people to buying a Wii U. So maybe Sonic or Mario or Donkey Kong or Wii Party or Wind Waker or Skylanders or Just Dance or Wii Fit or Mario & Sonic Olympics is going to push significant amount of hardware alone  but combined they can make Wii U a worthwhile purchase.

Then he was still wrong as that is the definition of a system seller, a game that can just move consoles.

no a system seller doesnt have to mean huge front loaded sales, a game with an extremely high attach ratio and long legs can be considered a system seller

no a system seller is just that, it sells systems. Sonic aint it. attach ratio doesnt mean much when the system is selling like crap, that means NOTHING is moving th system. I dont even think Sonic meets any of the criteria for "system seller" that you put up
