Nintendo made so much money so it is a clear winner. Sony+M$ is lucky it slumped then

If its about who made the most money, I completely agree with you, nintendo killed sony and MS who bled money all gen, sony on their hardware and MS in securing 3rd party exclusives which they could have just spent forming their own studios and IP's which they could maintain as their property.

Sony learnt their lesson, they wont be a year late, their not designing their own processor and they are not priced at $599. Next gen should be a walk in the park for them.

Sony this gen will definitely make the most money (home consoles), they did learn there lesson and are giving consumers great options in multiple areas, but the only thing holding them back is the vita but ps4 will be massive it wont matter (im not including vita tv).

Those memory cards are killing the vita with low support(its like nintendo but the opposite ends [WiiU~3DS])

Sony learned a lesson and are hitting the ground running....doesn't look good for MS or nintendo this gen.

Yeaaaah.... *36mil+ 3DS's  doesn't look good -_-

Thinking overall Sony+Nintendo seem like they will both make good profits this gen.

Nobody Won

Gone are the days it's easy to determine a winner, this gen has been so split.

Units shipped determines winner? In the end they'll all be within a 10m range, there will be very little in it and selling an extra 5m consoles (whoever ends up on top) doesn't = win.

Profits? Handily go to Wii, 360 will have made some profits but not an awful lot, PS3 as we know will have lost sony billions.

Software? Always comes down to taste, in terms of HOW MANY quality games are out on each platform the PS3 is slightly ahead (if you ignore XBLA/PSN) 360 then Wii.

Software sales, 360 will overtake Wii, PS3 may overtake Wii, but Wii sold the most first party SW giving it the most $$, again it's all neck and neck.

Sustainability. PS360 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Wii.

If Nintendo could have sustained the Wii brand and transitioned to WiiU well, they would be winners for me.

The Wii, and, by extension, Nintendo, "won" this past generation. Wii sold the most, made the most profit, and, arguably, supported the better library of games.

Yeah, doing anything for saying Sony won again am I right?

if it wasnt for the head start xbox got, ps3 would have always been ahead....at a higher price point.
wii couldnt even last the whole generation before nintendo took it out its misery and discontinued it so i dont see how thats anywhere near being a winner. they cant take all the sales during their good times and then call the end of the generation when they slump, thats what losers do.

in terms of games I think it goes 1) Sony 2)nintendo 3)MS

MS looked like they had so many exclusives and then 1 by 1 they went to ps3. wouldnt be surprised of XBone ends up the same.

Wii didn't last the whole generation because Nintendo and thirds dropped support on it after the best year it had on the market(2010). And the funny thing is that when almost no new game was being released on it(2011 was when the support was almost entirely dropped), it still managed to outsell both the PS3 and 360. How's that being a loser i'm not sure. PS2 survived so long because in 2007 and 2008 it still had great third-party support, drop support and sales will go along with it.

7 pages in and I'm the only one that noticed it was satire?

edt: now I'm not sure...

So, billions of USD loss and less market share don't count.

Less market share?? One gen does not carry over to the next... Head to head, 14 months less on mmarlet PS3 outsold 360, that's fact. Proof Ps3 lost billions?? Keep in mind, sony is a big company, with many divisions./

I was talking about the Wii. -.-
And check the financial reportsm especially the Playstation division.

Or ask former Sony CEO Stringer:

You have spent three billion dollars on the Playstation 3, disregarding research and development. Can you ever get your money back?

Stringer: Not for as long as I live (laughs).

Spending 3 doesn t mean they lost it all LMAO, they have made quite a bit back...........basic economics.

Okay so it is your word against the one of the former CEO of Sony.

Basic economics:

R&D for the PS3 with Cell / BluRay was rather big and even without these costs included the PS3 lost 3 billion USD in 2008.
In 2009
the Playstation division lost another 600 million. http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/financial/ar/8ido180000023g2o-att/SonyAR09-E.pdf
In 2010
the Playstation division was merged with Vaio division and it became very hard to track each product by itself. Anyway, the division lost 900 million USD http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/financial/ar/8ido18000003dkyy-att/8ido18000003dl0u.pdf
In 2011
the Playstation division posted a profit for the very first time. Playstation 2, PSP, PS3 and Vaio made a combined profit of 450 million USD
http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/financial/ar/report2011/SonyAR11-E.pdf
In 2012 Sony mixed the new division (Playstation + Vaio) with the TV business and it gets impossible to track. However this division reported a 2.8 billion USD loss http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/financial/ar/2012/common/docs/EAR.pdf
In 2013 the Playstation division is back and called "game" it reported a 29 million USD Profit.

Feel free to show me when and where the Playstation 3 made those billions of USD back. Can't wait for this one.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Even if the PS3 sold the same amount as the Wii, the Wii would still be the winner due to profits.

Saleswise, and by judging the amount of AAA exclusives, clearly.

But they weren't really the underdog, I bet a majority of 360 owners were (previous) PS2 owners, making a "transition" back to the Playstation Nation easier.

With free online, PS+ and many exclusives PS3 does at least deserve to be the winner, but I think that's something everybody has to decide for themselves.

Imo, PS3 was hands down the best of the three as far as value and entertainment but, this whole "decide for yourselves" thing is like deciding if gravity exists. Winning is defined by sales and sales alone. Wii has won up to this point, period. Will the PS3 over take it? Maybe, but then again, it's cheap if it can't do it before next gen hits.

Wii won. Like it, hate it, lets all just drop the nonsense.
