Forums - Sales - Nintendo 3DS vs PS Vita Sales

That doesnt matter to me, what matters is i had both and I needed up keeping the vita. Also if numbers are everything, CoD Ghosts must be off the chain going by this logic. See you on the wiiu threads. ;)

I bet sales numbers are irrelevant too.

Compelling argument.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. My comment didn't go completely over your head did it?

I'll tell you when I find the actual comment. If something did go over my head I'm pretty sure I am not the only one who missed it.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

I'll spell it out for you.

Being this forum's W101 and WiiU mascot, you of all people shouldn't be poking fun at sales figures and implying they're directly correlated to quality.

Except that I never said that TW101 is the best thing ever or anything in that regard. I like it a lot but I am not delusional enough to deny the many flaws of the game. So let me spell this out for you: The point you are making is based on nothing but asumptions and thus it did indeed fly right over my head. The same goes for the WIi U itself. I can like things without declaring them "best of everything ever" all the time.

So games that you really like are allowed to absolutely bomb but your #1 favourite has to sell well? Yeah, ok.

What exactly did I assume again? My comment's pretty short and concise, so you shouldn't have any problem pointing it out.

I think that by now you are the only one left who even has a remote idea of what you are talking about and I`m not even sure about that anymore. At no point in your incoherent rambling did you even touch on anything I said, so I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul.

And how is the Vita any different? How did Sony not play it safe? They upgraded their multi-media gaming device. It got no where near the sales the PSP did because it was unnecessary

Nintendo's strategy with the 3DS was not playing it safe. Nor was their dangerously bad execution of it The WiiU and the 3DS are both upgrades that are meant to carry on the spirit of their last generation systems.

The Vita was a far bigger change from the PSP than the 3DS was from the DS P: Massive graphics upgrade, 2 cameras, OLED touch screen, dual analog sticks and a rear touch pad. I personally prefer the 3DS as it's game line up is waaaay ahead, but the Vita was certainly more "innovative" compared to it's predecessor.

Would you care to explain how the 3DS wasn't a safe bet? Because from what i can tell they made a grand total of one risk, and even that came with an off slide :P Take away the visual upgrades and the 3DS is a DS with an analog stick (which is perfectly fine, because the DS was incredible).

Okay, I own both and can't agree with this.  The PSP had great graphics, an analog stick and a large screen.  The Vita is based on the same design, but added a second analog stick, camera, a rear touch pad (useless in my eyes) and upgraded graphics with a touch screen.  I don't even count the OLED as they've now ditched that and the screen other than being higher resolution than the PSP doesn't look hugely better than the PSP (which looked great by the way).  Now, my iPad Retina's screen which is just LED looks far better than my Vita's.  The 3DS added a third camera for 3DS photos, made the upper screen a "widescreen" format that is glasses free 3D.  Gave the graphics a mush bigger boost over the DS and added an analog stick.  They're both logical upgrades to their predecessor, but if you play with the 3D on, which I do most of the time, I'd give the edge to 3DS as being a bigger upgrade than the Vita is.
The one area that I do find funny was all the PSP supporters that lambasted the DS for having it's games on cards (cartridges)....Funny, my Vita games look pretty similar.
That's my 2 cents.

I must have missed something.  Where did he say that the Vita wasn't a quality product?  Being a quality product, but not having the games that people want doesn't help much.  As for the Wii U, it's the exact same thing.  It's a quality product that is just starting to get the games that people want.  I played the W101 demo and haven't bought the game yet as it's just not high enough on my list of games to purchase.
I do believe that once SM3DW, MK8, DKTB & SSBU come out, the Wii U's fortunes will be looking better.  I highly doubt that it will come even close to total Wii sales, but it doesn't need to.  The Gamecube was Nintendos worse performing console and they still managed to make a ton of money during that time.
