3DS News: November 18, 2013

  • Spike's VGX Game Awards are now up for vote. Yay... 3DS nominees in various categories include Fire Emblem: Awakening, Pokemon X/Y, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. That's right, you can vote for games that you can't even have played yet! And that's why the Oscars, hated as they are, are far more respectable than these awards.
  • Nintendo put out a new commercial. It's not half bad, even though it's still showing off Mario Kart 7.
  • A Silver Luigi-themed 3DS XL is coming to America, bundled with the latest Mario & Luigi game.
  • Zelda will be 30 euros at this Dutch store. I don't know much about Dutch game prices, but apparently that's a pretty good deal.
  • A bunch of games are coming to the 3DS eSHop this week in Europe. Zelda is the obvious choice, but also take a look at the NES Donkey Kong and the Sonic demo.
  • With 40 reviews on Metacritic, Zelda remains at 91. Other than Fire Emblem: Awakening, this makes it the best received non-port/remake for the 3DS.
  • Based on VGChartz data, has outsold CoD: Ghosts for the PS3 and 360 combined after their first week. Not bad, even with the lower than usual CoD sales.
  • For a school project, I'm making a handheld gaming-based magazine. Just thought you'd get a giggle from that.

Also a suggestion! You could make it so regardless of the number of players (namely when we have 9-16), the top cut will be top 4, so that the finals will always have 8 players in it.

I was thinking of doing that, but as one group only had 4 people in I thought let's just go for the top 3 this time.

Maybe when more people are up to it? But good idea!

Tbone's fault for not joining despite being online. That's right, I saw you playing Megamans!

Also, next tournament next weekend at same time?

Cuz i have no brother that takes my XL to play Downloaded games -_-

Calm down buddy

Am I suppose to tell you when me or my brother plays my 3DS XL that has all downloadable content in it including MK7??? If so my apologies Master Emolga

A handheld gaming mag, eh? Sounds pretty cool! Good luck with that.

Also, I like your suggestions Slarvax. May have to see how people get on with it. Also, how do people like the sound of a Pokemon X/Y Tourney?

Um, actually read my post? I already told you what you should have done. Saying you're gonna do something and then not showing up at all despite being able to atleast explain why you can't participate was definitely not what you should have done. Even Conegamer always has some kind of excuse! xD

Only a few of us have competitive teams ready, and only half that number would actually participate. I'd give it more time, as X/Y only released a month ago afterall.

True. I have been training up what I hope to be a relatively competitive team, but not really. It's more just for the offline fun more than anything.

Two Three little new things for the night =D

  • Ahh... uhmm... Update for the Wii U?... Ok...
  • SM3DW, not released, nominated for Game of The Year!
  • Another Wii U commercial (Nintendo getting ready for the Holidays, let's all hope this works!)
  • I don't know what I'm doing
  • Something could be wrong with me
  • Just kidding
  • I have weird humor
  • K I'll stop now
  • just one more
  • Now for real

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Nintendo typically creates a few new IPs every generation where it benefits them to do so. Although I do think it would be far more beneficial to evolve and adapt their existing IPs.

If they just keep churning out new IPs, then there isn't much opportunity to build up a great legacy and strong core line-up. The only companies who really do churn out a bunch of new IPs are unestablished companies, most of these games don't go anywhere.

On the flip side, they shouldn't go the Activision route either, whose release lists generally consist of the same line-up of games every single year along with a bunch of licenses.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I'm baaaaaack! Wii U news of 11/18/2013:

Anyway, yesterday I had a party (yeeeeeyyyy teenssssssssssssssssssareboringbutmyfriendsarefunny -.-), and went to church (don't ask). So I didn't have time for anything, soooo yeah...How about Tourneys for local games? For example, who can beat OoT3D in the shortest time and post pics to show your time?  Or who can get 5 stars in your NSMBWii file with the least deaths? And about online, Luigi's Mansion DM! Could be like making teams and playing an infinite tower and the team who gets the farest wins!

those were some interesting ideas

and here is another Nintendo themed half-time show
