If you saw my "This Week in Nintendo History" post about FF6 a few days ago, you might have noticed that I planned on talking about Hotel Mario this week. However, I goofed: Hotel Mario's 20th anniversary was last week.
Rather than completely ignoring my "Next Time," here's a "Whatever Happened To" segment!
The star is this guy, Marc Graue:

This ugly fellow was the voice actor of Mario, Luigi, and Bowser in Hotel Mario. The thing is, Hotel Mario surprisingly did NOT kill this young man's career. Here's some of the games and such he's voiced characters in since that faithful contract in 1994.
- Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Codename: Kids Next Door
- Command and Conquer 4
- Fallout: New Vegas
- GUN
- Homefront
- Ratchett & Clank (2007 onwards, including the upcoming film)
- Resistance 3
- Rogue Galaxy
- Skylanders (Giants onwards)
- Wasteland 2
Not bad for a guy who built his career off of a pair of Italian stereotypes.
Next up, we have Kathleen Swain! This poor lady was tasked with helping to animate Hotel Mario. Obviously she was fresh out of First Grade Art class when
Wait, what had she worked on prior to Hotel Mario?

Something must have gone terribly wrong in this woman's career.
Last of all, we have the villain of our story, Phillips!

They remain one of the largest electronic companies in the world, with 25 billion Euros of revenue as in 2012. In addition to making electronics, they also specialize in making medical equipment used around the world to save countless lives.
Huh.
Other Random Tidbits
- One of the animators, Terry O'Brien, was a cameraman for the second Back to the Future movie.
- Bonia Versh, another animator, worked on 76 episodes of The Smurfs, as well as a few Rocko's Modern Life and Rugrats episodes.
- Frank Rada, a Technical Staff member, would work on a 2010 movie named "Mega Shark vs. Crocasaurus."
- Blake Sheftner, an "additional engineer," worked on a number of crappy but sucessful CGI films in the mid 2000's (like that Cat in the Hat movie).
- Hotel Mario was the best selling CDi game of all time. Huh.
