3DS News: Afternoon November 29, 2013

  • VGChartz data for the week ending the 23rd/24th is starting to come in. Zelda 3DS was released at #3 on the charts in America this week. Which doesn't sound impressive, until you take into account that the One was launched this week. Also, this, it launched nearly 100k higher than Phantom Hourglass did in October 2007. So all in all, not bad sales for the 3DS so far the week before Black Friday.
  • The 3DDS YouTube app is live! Initial reports aren't very positive, but it works. Download it now for free. It's only about 120 blocks.
  • Get a 3DS XL for $140.
  • The developer of the Rune Factory games is closing, despite the success of Rune Factory 4.
  • Bravely Default is looking good. The game is coming out December 6 in Europe.

Picked up Metroid Prime Trilogy and Xenoblade at Gamestop.com. Both were only 39.99! Now if I can just get the time to play...

Are there any special offers for Wii U on Black Friday?

Hardware

  • GameStop has a $300 Skylanders Wii U Bundle, which also comes with a backpack and $25 gift card.
  • Toys R Us has a Wii U Bundle for $260 including Skylanders Swap Force and Nintendo Land. Probably your best deal for the console this year.
  • Best Buy has their bundle for $320, including Nintendo Land and 2 Wiimotes.
  • Kmart has the new NSMBU+Luigi DLC bundle for $300.

Software

  • Walmart has Scribblenauts Unlimited and Lego Batman 2 for $15 and Lego Marvel Superheroes and Sbribblenauts Unmasked for $25.
  • GameStop has the new Skylanders and Disney Infinity Starting Packs for $50 each, Assassin's Creed 4 for $40, Lego Marvel Superheroes for $30, Rayman Legends for $25, and various deals on used games. Wii games on sale include Xenoblade and Metroid Prime Trilogy for $40.

To be continued...

Thank you for this update.

That is a pretty good deal. Xenoblade is quite the title!

Just wanted to say that despite being a hardcore sony fan and satisfied Vita owner, I bought a 3ds today. Total impulse purchase. It was a black Friday deal on amazon.co.uk and I couldn't resist (I honestly think I got the last one). Got 3ds XL White Limited Edition with Mario Kart 7 for £129.99. Does anyone know if this is a good deal? (At least it sounds like it)

Also, not a fan of racers, so not sure the best place to trade it in and get something I actually want. Any ideas?

That sounds like an excellent deal to me, good job! A 3DS XL is normally around £180 by itself, so you can see just how good it is.

As for Mario Kart, have you given it a go? Just to try it out? You never know...but if not, I'd say CEX.

Thanks, man!

Haven't tried it yet, but I have played Mario kart on the n64 and hated it. Nothing wrong with the game, I'm just terrible at racers. The only racer that I have ever enjoyed was Motorstorm Apocalypse and that was only because of the 3d effect (made a huge difference). CEX is probably a great idea (traded uncharted 2 for £26 at some point). I plan on using the code from Mario Kart 7 to get 3d land for free :P http://www.nintendo.co.uk/Campaigns/SUPER-MARIO-3D-LAND-Welcome-Promotion/SUPER-MARIO-3D-LAND-Welcome-Promotion-831595.html

Can't wait to play the two naruto games released on 3ds.

MK7 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MK64. MK7 is also in 3D, and like all games you have to keep playing them to get better at them. I'm sure you'll become atleast half as good as I am if you play it for over 300 hours hehe! Also I'm not a fan of racers either, but MK7 is the one exception!

  • If only I cared for either of those games!

How is that unfortunate!? It's to be expected! If you play a game for 300+ hours and you still aren't awesome at it, then something's horribly wrong!
