Playing Dark Souls now, and so far, I like Demon's Souls much more.

Given how generally identical it is, it's not the spiritual successor, but rather the actual successor

I honestly dont think they should continue with Demons Souls considering that Dark Souls is very similar.

Unless they do something radically different with Demons Souls 2.

Big fan of Demon Souls though I actually enjoyed it more than Dark Souls :)

Yeah it is the whole reason that is is cause from software  wanted it to be multiplatform but sony owns the IP rights to demon souls so dark souls was born.

No friend. The game is truly magnificent and in some aspects, yes, I personally prefer it over Dark Souls.

Demons souls is owned by Sony, so this would make a goood PS4 exclusive.

In the beginning video it's explained that the Old One was brought back thanks to Allant's desire to have more power and his playing with the Souls Arts. This power corrupts him and that disgusting shape you fight at the end, is what's left of him, more evidence is the sword you get, which was Allant's. The Allant you fight at the end of Boletaria castle is a demon pretending to be him. His soul is even called "False King Allant's demon soul".

This is also the reason why his son commits suicide, because he can't bear to see what has happened to his father.
