Smoking should be legal to everyone. If they want cancer, that's their decision to make.

The shit doesnt hurt anyone but the user and doesnt stink up the public unless you are < a few feet from someone exhaling and even that is only for a second or so. It also provides the government with a ton of tax revenue. I dont smoke but it does more for the greater good than harm. |
Perhaps it is simply my living on a college campus, but I definitely disagree.
The SOP for smokers here is to light up about 10 feet from every door, so you have to walk through a wall of smoke every time you want to go someplace. Failing that, you're bound to end up behind someone who's walking while smoking, forcing you to either jog to get around them or just sit and wait for them to go by. And given the way that terrible smell clings to everything, having to share a classroom with regular smokers is not my idea of a pleasant olfactory experience.
And being an asthmatic doesn't help. Walking from one side of campus to the other is bad enough without having to worry about breathing smoke.
I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.
Don't care, don't smoke
That about sums up my feelings
Not like it's going to change much, parents/friends are still going to buy them for 7 year olds.

This I can relate to, my University experience was the same, can't go anywhere outside without people spewing cancer fumes.

That's the same law as drinking in most states. |
Hmmm... For Alcohol, I thought the legal age to consume was 21 as well?
Well, statistically speaking it has helped in the UK (raising the legal age for smokers). It may yield a similar result in the US. I'm all for it really.
Cigarettes are disgusting in my opinion, but to each his own.
Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS
Big Tobacco companies will miss out on profits from selling to young people aged 18 to 20. Civil liberties groups will be crying out that this is another attack by Big Government on people's freedom and liberties. Prohibition leads to Black market and criminal gangs will win through selling to more under aged people for a high price.
New York has become the testing ground for encroaching on a persons right decide how they want to take care of their body.
Plus once the moral crusaders get rid of cigarettes they will come after something else to fix society. For all we know that will be video games leading to sedentary activity.
Also for those who support the banning of cigarettes completely why would you not extend this to alcohol? You don't often hear about smokers getting drunk and smashing into a car, person or building.
Live and let live I say.

I cant speak for how it effects an asthmatic, so it could be a problem thare but....If you are 10 feet outdoors from a smoker you arent going to encounter anything, I regularly find myself outside of places where people are 3 feet from me smoking and I dont notice, so 10 feet is no problem. Indoors is a different issue, but I do think business owners and such deserve the right to have smokers inside, just as non smokers have the right to not spend their money or work at those establishments. Ill also admit the shit can stink, especially for long time use indoors, but you cant ban people from using crappy purfume/body spray, eating foods that smell bad or not showering and smelling bad.
Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
