Im pretty sure gamestop (the largest game retailer in america) has enough data that it can be assumed to reflect the market as whole, scientifically speaking plus or minus a few points.

That is like from 2008. It even mentions Circuit City which as a brick and mortar store is dead.  Have something more recent?

It all comes down to who can ship more consoles come launch. If ps4 ships 5 million and xb1 ships 4 million than ps4 will win the launch. If xb1 ships 5 million and ps4 ships 4 xb1 one wins. Use common sense here people there is more than enough demand that both consoles will sell out. It It truly is astounding the lack of common sense on this site.

When I'm watching a youtube video from my favorite Sony Let's Play, on the ps4 release for the 30th time, I see it has it has 10 million views.  The XBox One video from that same poster that I haven't watched only has 1 million views.  This PROVES that PS4 is 10x more popular and will sell 10x more.  Screw gamestop.  I'm all wise an knowing.

Oh and also I typed PS4 and XBox in amazon and this also makes me an expert.

Is that sarcasm? Cause you said you looked at it for the 30th time yourself. I hope it is lol

I dont know how any devices with a $500-$600(games, tax ect) entry point are going to set the charts on fire, not to mention the lack of must have games (though there have been much weaker launches). People have less expendable income than ever. If you launched with a God/Gears of war, GT, Halo, Uncharted it might be different. I see plenty of consoles available shortly after launch, especially after the scalpers return the ones they cant make a profit off of. Nothing is doomed, but we are far from some gaming renaissance.



Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

So the next-gen launch will each console selling more than wii(the most sucessful console launch to date) individually, even if they are releasing in the same window. Yet, the games will sell well too, this mean ~ 2 games for each console, i suppose(wii had 2.1, wiiu had 1.1).

Wiiu get sould out too. Just saying.

Gonna go ahead and assume sarcasm on this one.

The broad demographic of consumers are 100% oblivious to these kinds of things. In fact a huge chunk of those interested in PS4 are 100% unaware they have to pay for online on the console.

Same with X1 and the weaker ports. The things that are discussed heavily in forum wars will have little to no bearing on hardware sales. Marketing, exclusive titles, and price will have far more impact than silly resolution wars 95% of the demographic couldnt care about.

I am going to disagree with you and say that anyone pre-ordering or buying a PS4 or XB1 at or soon after the launch date is very intuned and informed with everything regarding that console.  These are not the casual wii type consoles that causes the casuals confusion. These are so called "hard-core" consoles for core gamers.

There are unlikely to be grannies in the queue waiting for a PS4.. unless someone else ask them to. Casuals don't care about getting a PS4 at launch.

To play what? Sony Sing song party?

Yes there will be "confused" buyers but not as many as you think on the these so-called "gamer" consoles.

Are you standing in stores taking pre orders talking to consumers and taking their pre orders? No? I am.

What i posted isnt my opinion its a fact. Most honestly dont care but your average consumer litteraly look nothing like the people who post on forums. And the belief only core gamers pre order consoles is an absolute myth.

completely anacdotal evidence, but the marines in my class have been talking about the next gen systems and what systems they want to get.

and they still think and say things like,

"the xbox has dumb policies, no used games, and you have to be online all the time"

and my favorite, "i just heard the PS4 games are 1080, and xbox only does 960" where he got 960 from, i dont know, lol. but the point is it just goes to show how ignorant people can hear fleeting comments, and cling to them.
