I touched on this briefly. Currently Sony is in a better position allocation wise than MS. The 2 to 1 number whike once true really doesnt have bearing anymore. MS have been aggresive in adding new consoles for pre order. That being said they still trail Sony.

The thing is, you would imagine that M$ are probably prioritising America more than Sony. So there might be a significant gap elsewhere

But it is a competition between who can make more as you say


Global sales will probably heavily favor Sony. This thread is in regards to NA only as those are the only numbers I have access to

Im pretty sure gamestop (the largest game retailer in america) has enough data that it can be assumed to reflect the market as whole, scientifically speaking plus or minus a few points.

1. There is no bomba here. Anyone suggesting either PS4 or X1 will be a flop at launch and that their preferred console will annihilate the other is in for a rude awakening. The PS4 / X1 launch will be the biggest the industry has ever seen.

Expect consoles to be difficult to find until January or so at the absolute earliest.  Currently its looking like Sony is in the best position production wise but X1 is gaining ground and adding more consoles for pre order.

3. Cross gen games will rule the sales. COD, Battlefield 4, and AC4 will be the software leaders at launch so expect more of the same there. Killzone,  Ryse, Dead Rising,  and Forza should all see success as well.

 

In closing get ready for an amazing launch of next gen hardware and software. The industry is in an amazing position and the next 3 or ao months will be amazing for sales. There are some questions on how these consoles will perform in the long run but sales should stay strong throughtout much of next year with a steady stream of titles such as Infamous Second Son, Titanfall, Driveclub, and Watch Dogs all due in the first half of the year.

If you don't mind me asking, what level of insight do you have this information? Are we talking a store level, regional level, country or continent wide?

Yeah, if you look at how huge the PS3 release was in Europe and that with such a huge price in 2007 you can only imagine how much Sony could sell in Europe if they could produce enough.

Gonna go ahead and assume sarcasm on this one.

The broad demographic of consumers are 100% oblivious to these kinds of things. In fact a huge chunk of those interested in PS4 are 100% unaware they have to pay for online on the console.

Same with X1 and the weaker ports. The things that are discussed heavily in forum wars will have little to no bearing on hardware sales. Marketing, exclusive titles, and price will have far more impact than silly resolution wars 95% of the demographic couldnt care about.

I am going to disagree with you and say that anyone pre-ordering or buying a PS4 or XB1 at or soon after the launch date is very intuned and informed with everything regarding that console.  These are not the casual wii type consoles that confuses the casuals . These are so called "hard-core" consoles for core gamers.

There are unlikely to be grannies in the queue waiting for a PS4.. unless someone else ask them to. Casuals don't care about getting a PS4 at launch.

To play what? Sony Sing song party?

Yes there will be "confused" buyers but not as many as you think on the these so-called "gamer" consoles.

Yep. Im not claiming at all to know exact numbers. I DO however have enough to clearly see the overall trends as has been proven on this very forum.
