The thread title would make more sense if it said "superior console version". I mean, really, PC will always win these things.

Nobody is saying otherwise... PC versions is the superior of course but sites are saying is you target 1080p@60fps on PC you can't tell the differece of PS4 version... the weird part is that the PC versions is missing some effects added to the PS4 version.

Which effects?

And if we're talking about noticeable differences I honestly doubt the majority of consumers will notice differences between any of these three versions.

To me at least I'm not seeing any diff that is going to make me feel like I got the worse version. Don't get me wrong I see some diff and read what everyone has said the diff's are but to me it doesn't bother me

I mean that's the case, this is not some dick measuring, at least I don't feel like it is, and I doubt it may sway many people to get the PS4 instead of Xbone, maybe some. It's informative, if you have both consoles, you know which version to get if there are no preferences, controller, friends in multi, whatever.

And I hoped MS fans will finally stop saying that there is no difference in performance between next gen consoles, so noone will have to prove them wrong and we may skip some threads about it, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case...

Yeah I know there will be diff in favor of the ps4 but until it becomes a huge gap it won't affect me

We can only hope but it is the internet after all

Is not comfirmed the resolutions, maybe upscaling 1080p [rumor]. For now the use for Smoother anti-aliasing on PS4 like the texture plastic and blurred , not seem real. Xone contrast is up and lights. But Ps4 resolutions is little better.

The Xbox One version has a post processing sharpening filter over the scene, so actually, the image is less accurate since it is being artificially boosted. So while it looks like there is more detail than the PS4 version, the latter in fact truer to the (no holds bar) PC version. Also, bearing in mind, that the PS4 has a higher internal resolution.. finer details like sharp lines appear much smoother on it, which holds up better against aliasing artifacts when upscaled.. verses running at native res. This will be more apparent in motion.

And to be honest, I'm not a big fan of boosted contrast/high gamma setting on my sources. I'd rather have my display handle that since it's already calibrated and can be tweaked better to my liking. Although I can see most people taking a liking for the more dynamic image of the Xbox One.

So all in all, the PS4 version is much better on a technical level, with; SSAO on, a higher resolution and a higher framerate. Though the Xbox One version of BF4 is no slouch in that regard (technically cannot be compared), surprisingly, holds up pretty well to the PS4 version.. despite the difference in resolution. Given that the upscaler and post processing used on the Xbox One version does a bang up job making the game still look good at 720P is commendable in itself.

We can now conclude Multiplatform games have.....

  • Superior resolution on PS4
  • Higher and more stable Frame rate on PS4
  • Smoother anti-aliasing on PS4
  • Missing textures on Xbox One

Left are
"which one has the better community"   (since its a new generation we can be thankful that not all people of the last generation move into the next one)
"which has the better online experience/better servers etc."
and
"which one has the better controller."

NOT downplaying a controller here because I have neither touched a PS4 nor x1 controller (and the thing I am most hypped about the PS4 is its new controller!)  but a game can look as good as it wants but if  e.g. I just have 1 button or something thats shaped like a brick  or well a steering wheel  I cant really enjoy a shooter etc.  I mean OtherM on Wii or NSMB with sideways Wiimote = CANCER.

A good controller is important! And today the best controller is the 360 controller (minus old dpad) and thats not an ipinion thats logic/ergonomics etc. (concave vs convex sticks, great vs strange triggers, 360 controller being designed from scratch and PS3 controller just being a PS1 design with rushed "LETS ADD ANALOGS TO FIGHT N64" design. Thank god they designed the DualShock4 from scratch I might buya PS4 controller for my PC just because of the new design.

So if its the better version has yet to be decided. Because EVERYTHING (even sound) > graphics.
Graphically the PS4 versions is the CLEAR winner tho  which was to be expected.

And fair enough, cheers

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

The video cites "water drops on the windscreen" like a effect that PS4 have and PC not.

So all in all the PS4 version is much better on a technical level, with; ambient occusion, higher resolution and a higher framerate. Given that the upscaler and post processing used on the Xbox One version does a bang up job making the game still look great at 720P is commendable in itself.

That's the thing that gets me, though.  Framerate aside (which the PS4 wins), why does it matter if the Xbox One version is being artificially sharpened?  Doesn't the end result of what you personally see on screen matter most of all?  I mean Wind Waker HD on Wii U (Neutral system, here) runs at 1080p and 60fps but it's not the best looking game on the console to me.  I'm one of those people that doesn't care if RAGE on Xbox 360 is doing all kinds of technical stuff that I can't see.  The game looks ugly to me.  What I'm saying in a drawn out way is that looking good looks good.  If your girl looks better because she used make-up after she got dressed and mine looks better without make-up, your girl still looks hotter right?

Though we all know it's what's inside that counts.

Inside her vagina, that is!  I'm talking about penis.  *high five*

The boosted gama/contrast is related to DF video capture... not the game ifself... this video shows how it looks on Xbone:

Interesting, and very strange considering the cuts made elsewhere like the lower resolution alpha and draw distance.

Notice the Xbox One version is missing the clouds in the background, and the left sleeve is missing an entire texture. If you right-click and copy-paste the URL into your browser to view the full size image of this, you will also notice drastic anti-aliasing problems with the Xbox One picture.

Anti-Aliasing....

Xbox One version looks better than expected. It certainly isn't bad. But it's clear PS4 is superior in certain aspects (resolution, frame rate, anti-aliasing, textures)

Where was that guy stating show me the 50% performance extra performance of the PS4???? 50% eh?????? Where are you hiding?

900p vs 720p?

Better AA

better framerate

better image overall!

Even with DF trying their best to help the X180 cause they have failed!
