Forums - Gaming - Quitting "Hardcore gaming" is the best thing I've done in a long time.

You and me both, brotha. Either I'm becoming a jaded bitter old gamer who's seen it all, or there's been a serious drop in quality and interesting games, because very little catches my interest these days, even a lot of the Nintendo stuff, and I'm a Nintendo fan. I'm not sure if I'm just very hard to please, or most here are just extremely easy to please..

The difference is though, for me, I'm more into the retro stuff these days, or at least games that adhere to that retro/arcade style (NSMB, Mario Kart, Minecraft, Starcraft, Plants vs Zombies, Terraria, etc)... I'm finding I am increasingly starting to despise the Hollywood-style direction that gaming seems to be going with the flashy graphics, cutscenes, and dialogue residing over gameplay, along with unnecessarilly compelx control schemes, ironically being used for games that are somehow getting more simple.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I thought the forums are about writing things.

I waste 3-4 hours/week for games. I mainly play AC3 in the rare occasion i am home maybe for 20mins or something and then I relax with a hidden object game. So I understand what you are saying. I will get a next gen console too but I am not sure why (I don't have time for games).

I guess you can't be a kid forever

He's an existential nihilist. Kinda fits the posts.

I can't say that I fully understand what makes a gamer hardcore...
I've been told that people that play games with yearly installments or party games are casual gamers...
The yearly installments thing seems to apply mostly to Madden, Fifa, and the 2K games...
Call of Duty seems to still be considered a core game though...
I find this confusing because a decent portion of the COD players I know almost exclusively play COD...
Those that play other games might play GTA or RE for a week (they never finish the game), but switch back to COD quite quickly...
To me that seems like a pretty casual appreciation of video games...

Have a nice day...
