Forums - Gaming - Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag Comparison PS3 vs. PS4

Disappointing. PS3 blurry in places. Water blurred especially. But the PS4 version looked washed out with colour.

AC4 could have been way better if only made for next gen. Dissapointing.

Remember when people were saying Wii U is only as powerful or less powerful than PS3 because launch cross-gen multiplats didn't look way better on it than current gen?
Yeah, I hope those stupid people notice that isn't sor P.

Lol way better...they won't ever look way better, Wii U just doesn't have enough under the hood to have way better multiplats.

Problem was and is that a lot of multiplats were inferior to current gen versions

That's right Sony boy, Wii U games are not going to progress visually any further than the point  they are at now.

Oh man, that was dissapointing indeed :). Probably just goes to show that the 3rd parties hasn´t learned the new hardware yet.

It's just time... When you are a 3rd party, you are making improvements to your engines over time. This is made worse that they have 3 new versions (wii-u, XboxOne and PS4 to make)... so they have even less time to spend making improvements to their engine when they are trying to make the game.

So if they weren't releasing on 6 platforms at once, the engine team would have made improvements across the board. This is why you will see improvements to games sometime next year... it will be even better once PS3/Xbox versions are dropped, the improvements will get made on PS4/XboxOne alot better.

Problem with the PS4 is that there isn't really suppose to be anything new for developers to learn.  It's derieved straight from PC parts with the only difference would be it's GDDR5 RAM architecture.  Developers are suppose to be able to access it's full potential at the get go; unlike Xbox-One/Wii U which has a load of eDRAM which developers have barely tapped into.  That's why I believe the X1 has more potential than the PS4 but that's another matter/thread to talk about.  It's truly dissapointing to see that PS4 versions of multiplat games are barely able to improve these current builds I expected X360 to PC maximum diffrence like that on the Witcher 2.

Yeah, I hope those stupid people notice that isn't so different for PS4 either.

they always knew that (wii u case included), but you see: Haters gonna hate, it's that simple.

It's the same people also making up shit about the X1 when the games have not yet released. Some of these fanbots are annoying indeed!!!

What....lol. Seriously where did you get that idea from?

There is nothing new in the way the XboxOne is being used, in fact the memory siutation is actually problematic. Of course in the future it will definately improve, but only because its hampering the way coders work right now.

What is new is Sony's decision to offload stuff onto the GPU, its been pretty much reported that this will lead to the biggest gains in the future.

If you really think in the future the Wii-u has the most potential, you are having a laugh :).. As for the XboxOne, well sorry but MS screwed up and it will take a couple of years (like the Cell/PS3) to sort that out.

Have you been reading MisterX website alot or something ? ;)

GPGPU has been done by the X360 for quite sometime now so that should be nothing new to 3rd party Sony developers!!! I didn't say Wii U had more potential...I said the X1 has more potential than the PS4 due to it's eDRAM architecure which is like the Wii U!!! The Wii U doesn't need to get into a peeing contest with Sony's hardware as Nintendo's strength has always been about gameplay innovation and it's first party software.  Don't believe me just look at the 3DS vs PSV and that should discussion about that!!!  Going back the eDRAM set-up is going to be huge for X1 in the future and that's why I am so excited about that system!!!

I got to see AC4 running on the PS4 yesterday in person and I can say that it's a lot more colourful and vibrant than seen on his video. The overworld looks a lot more organic due to water effects on plants and the sea looks very realistic due to the waves being very pronounced. Unfortunately due to the huge queues I didn't get to actually play with it, but 60 FPS must be very nice to play with as well which doesn't appear in the video.

AC3 had a LOT of frame rate slowdowns on PS3, so if they managed to get rid of all of that AND run at 60 FPS+1080P, I would say that's a decent start for next gen. Expecting more in the future though.
