Well Links Awakening DX sold more than Oracle of Ages/Seasons and Link to the Past on GBA outsold Minish Cap. I think This game will outsell Ocarina of Time 3D but u cant rule out Zelda remakes outselling new titles.

The parents who played 2D Zelda in the eighties and nineties will want their kids to play it. Wii virtual console 2D Zelda sales show a pent up demand for 2D Zelda that has been building. If it does well on 3DS we will also see a top down Zelda on Wii U to complement the AAA Ocarina style we are now accustomed to. Book it.

i understand all of that but 17-25 million is an absolutely unrealistic expectation and there is just no way that is happening

.... you cannot just compare games like that. Zelda has NEVER broken 10 million, GTA has broken those numbers since GTA 3. It amazes me you think that this will 3x to 4x the best selling zelda game of all time, even if every single zelda fan , past and present, bought this game the numbers you are projecting are still impossible.

.... you cannot just compare games like that. Zelda has NEVER broken 10 million, GTA has broken those numbers since GTA 3. It amazes me you think that this will 3x to 4x the best selling zelda game of all time, even if every single zelda fan , past and present, bought this game the numbers you are projecting are still impossible. 

Who would have thought Mario Kart would sell thirty three million or whatever that was?

It'll do well but DAMN is that cover epic. Maybe the best Zelda cover in ages. Now if only they could make the cart shinny gold like the original, I'd completely lose my mind.
