Forums - Gaming - Capcom Doesn’t Have Enough Resources For A Next-Gen Fighter

It just means that they have the staff pooled on other projects atm and arent willing to hire cause they need to reduce costs.
Capcom is not well managed, and will continue the trend. The busted alot of money trying to be hipster and outsourcing development, and all those projects bombed except DMC wich probably broke even but brought alot of negativity to the series, so overall, they lost alot of money this cycle. Apparantly they think mobile games are the way to go now. I say, thats the only thing they have money for now.
They are getting cash in from onster hunter though, so im sure they will be able to start a few new projects soonish. They are probably hard at work on RE7 for current consoles aswell. At least they should if they want to make money.

I hope this mean they'll start to sell off some of their IP's. Just sell Mega Man to Nintendo already Capcom! Or when will we else get to play a new Mega Man title?

You might be aware of it but the spiritual successor of mega is "Mighty no 9". Kenji ifune started kickstarter and it a success. Here is more info.

Thank you both for enlightning me, but I already know about this project. It's the first (and so far only) Kickstarted project I've backed =) I'd still want to see Mega Man in Nintendo's hands since Capcom obviously doesn't care all that much about him...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

He means his team, not Capcom.

This is not a story.

/this

His team is stretched to limit. Not Capcom's resources. Ultra Street FIghter IV has even fallen behind their original scheducle because of this.

Capcom did a lot of things I don't agree with but they also took a lot of chances on new franchises as well as releasing an excellent revamp of Devil May Cry. I hate seeing them in this position. They were good to me this gen.

I think people need to realize that a Capcom doesn't just pool their resources.

They don't take the profits from Monster Hunter and spread them out evenly to all departments.

The fighting genre for capcom is its own entity. If the genre for them makes them money, Capcom will allow larger budgets, if they don't make a profit, they will not get as much money.

No company would take their profits from a super successful part (monster hunter) and spend them in a less profitable part. They spend those resources in the departments that make money. So this has nothing to do with Capcom itself not having money. It's with the Fighting devlopment team not having enough money. And resources means money. If they had infinite money they could hire any developer and as many as they wanted to have the "resources" to make a game.

This is obviously his way of saying the budget is too big for a next gen game on this genre's profits. So if you want a next gen game, you better buy USF4, so that we have the money to port it to next gen.

I think Capcom did fine the last years if we look at their financial results and all he meant is probably that there is just no "free team" right now since they all work already on other games. They could make 5 billion in profits and still not work on a new fighter if it wouldn't make sense financially.

It's as if Rare would say the same if people would ask for a new game of an old franchise. Microsoft doesn't have financial problems just because Rare doesn't have or get enough resources to work on more as they do right now.
