Forums - Gaming - Capcom Doesn’t Have Enough Resources For A Next-Gen Fighter

I hope this mean they'll start to sell off some of their IP's. Just sell Mega Man to Nintendo already Capcom! Or when will we else get to play a new Mega Man title?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Well i don't mind to much. Killer instinct is shaping up amazingly well. So i really wouldn't be buying a new street fighter. I stopped playing street fighter back in the snes days when killer instinct came out then. It was a better game.

but anyway, it is sad. Maybe Microsoft could buy them. Microsoft helped them massively with the dead rising series.

No big deal for me, the only fighting games I like hail from NetherRealms Studios.

They don't mean resources as in money, they mean personell. The tweeter in question (whoever he is, a designer or project leader I presume?) meant that he doesnt have a free team ready to jump on to a fighter game project right now.

lol @ people thinking he meant that Capcom is out of money.

It's already coming in 2015, but from a diff company, same team. Mighty no. 9 seems classic, hope they can deliver what we'v been promised.

every developer recruits when they make a new game, or outsource some work. The only reason they wouldnt is if they dont have the money.

And why would a company that isnt 'out of money' decide to cut half its european work force and sacrifice next gen development?

I really hope they go bankrupt and a company who can manage and run capcom better takes over.

But that tweet wasn't about Capcom's financial troubles. The tweet was only about potential dev teams he has in sight for a fighting game and had absolutely nothin to do with money. It's that he doesn't have a team ("resources") available to him at the moment who in his opinion would suit such a project right now (can somebody confirm that this guy is a designer or director of some sort?).

Even if Capcom's finances are strained (they are to some extent ...but who's isn't?) a spokesperson for Capcom would never admit that or refer to that in a tweet. It's as simple as that.

misleading title - the tweet doesn't necessarily mean capcom doesn't have money/resources for a next gen fighter. It is likely ono does not have enough allocated budget or personel to make a port for USF4 for gen consoles.

Isn't the new Guilty Gear for both current and next gen platforms? Capcom must be in some truly tough times.

Sounds to me like Ono's team just isn't being given enough manpower/possibly money. Not much to do with Capcom as a whole.
