Forums - Gaming - Weak Sales Reason For Need For Speed: Rivals Skipping Wii U And PS Vita

I bought Most Wanted on the Vita and was actually quite impressed. It was actually the full console version with just reduced number of cars in the racers, but I can understand with the PS4 and Xbox One versions they may not have wanted the extra resources

You also have to consider that this is a transition year to a new studio Ghost games and a transition for Criterion with many of them transferring to Ghost games UK (probably in the same location, but still)

Anyway, I think Rivals is looking quite good, even if it isn't too different from Most Wanted

Need For Speed is one of those franchises. I know it's a good game and it's popular but it comes out so often that I just can't tell one entry from the other. I think, once, they even used the exact same name for one game twice and nobody noticed.

I'm not sure if this was a serious post... but just incase :p

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit was meant to be a "reboot" from Criterion (given hot pursuit was considered the pinnacle of the franchise). Need for Speed: Most Wanted was the 2nd Criterion release and again, that was also a reboot, though was also more also a way of bringing Burnout Paradise's gameplay to the series with real vehicles.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I was serious.  :(

Well that's why they used the same names heheh.

NFS this gen was stunning, so long as a Criterion Logo accompanied the boot up. :)

Didn't the Vita version sell something like 400k units? If that's too little for them for a quick port on a platform with less than 6million units in the market, then good riddance.

I can already see next year's NFS being released on the WiiU after the install base gets a bit of a bump and then EA wondering why it doesn't sell well.

that's why sony delayed driveclub, to have at least one console where the game will sell decent. this will also mean that the ps4 will be the only console in the future which will get nfs games
