Yeah, good idea. With the new consoles launching, I anticipate quite a flurry of activity from the mods.
So stopping stuff like this now is a good move. And heck, allowing real discussion to dominate is fine with me!

You were moderated for the thread, not because of the reactions of other posters. The thread on its own was lock-worthy. |
Yup, a lot of people in this thread "thanking" the mods are in for a rude awakening. This rule now also protects people from going in a thread and giving their opinion without a plethora of "Oh typical comments from the same lot of people." Which, a lot of people rejoicing are guilty of. I personally have always found those comments extremely annoying so I am all for this rule.
Signs of a flamebait thread include but are not limited to: adding a gloating or taunting comment at the end of the article, posting irrelevant information (ex.: news from a year ago), plain false information or magnifying a small issue in order to make things seem worst than they really are.
This is a helpful tip, thanks for the heads-up.

if the news is obviously false most of the time, yes. but if news is true, then no. are we being told what we can and cannot talk about now because of our gaming prefrences? moderations are there to take out the offensive posts from the forum, what you are suggesting is that moderaters can chose what we can and cannot talk about. are you fucking serious?
Good.
This site needs some serious overhaul in terms of people hi-jacking threads and/or turning them into flame bait.
We also need to recruit more people. It's like the same people posting all the time. Just Saiyan.
It's just that simple.

It isnt what it is stating at all. It just means dont go off topic and call users out for their posting habits or call them biased just because the thread/comment is negative. Comments should always stay on topic and by calling people out it leads to arguments when it could have easily been avoided. Private message that person or talk to a mod about it. Plus they have a report button as well.

No, this is not what he is saying, he is just saying that it is obvious that some people are almost looking for negative news all over the internet to post the here with annoying comments to antagonize others... So yah it seems to be "fucking" logic to me to ask those users to slack a bit (nobody said to prevent them for posting)...
This rule has been up for several hours now and not a single mock post has occurred yet. I don't know whether to be proud or disappointed.

Too bad what you are saying is already a rule then. On top of that if the posters posting negative news dont break any rules they can continue posting negative news. bananaking is right. Asking people to cut down the negative posts that arent breaking rules is asinine

I don't even know what you are talking about... Did not say or not say it was not a rule already lol (you'll need to explain me 'why' is to bad?)
And franckly thinking that something would be logical or not has, again, nothing to do with rules...
