What do they mean by "Blow-up" ? If anything it'll be even lucky to achieve a fraction of what smash bros will sell because this game appears to have a poor amount of content for the price.

20 dollars for 8 characters sounds good to me

That's without a campaign and everthing else. The only modes that you get are practice and online matches. With $20 I could spend that on a GTA DLC or some other DLC that has more to offer than what killer instinct offers.

Story mode comes out early next year with the last 2 characters.

Do you still have to purchase it separately or does it come with the $20 to purchase the 8 characters. If you have to purchase it separately again for another $20 then this game really is disappointing for the amount of content you recieve.

"Evil Geniuses' Justin Wong has chimed in with some positive words about the upcoming Killer Instinct reboot.

...

"Out of all the next-gen fighting games we currently know about, I think Killer Instinct has the biggest potential to blow up in the community," Wong said on Evil Geniuses' official site. "It's like a revival for the series." He goes on to cite Double Helix's willingness to give the community multiple opportunities to try the game, which has certainly been an omen for success since Capcom adopted the practice with Street Fighter 4 in 2009.

 ...

"You can look forward to me streaming some Killer Instinct this fall, though. That's for sure!" said Justin, who's looking to grab an Xbox One at launch. If he can work his magic and highlight its strengths to his audience, it could certainly go a long way towards the game gaining traction in competitive circles."

Depending on what character he make his videos, if Wong takes the time to do them on the X1, If i get the console (a lot of ifs going on), He definitely would be someone I would follow.  Being able to download some really good combo videos would be fun.

Who plays fighting games for the campaigns?

Some people do and some don't but that doesn't mean it shouldn't offer more content for it's price. ;)

$20 for 8 characters when I can purchase a DLC that will give me more content so the choice is yours.

Blow - up as in tournament I would believe.  Also Smash Bros and Killer attract different type of fighting game players.  Comparing the 2 games probably ot the best of choices.

It did "blow up" in the 90's where fighters were hot.

Not sure if any serious fighting game player really play these games for a story mode.  I could not tell you what the story is for any of the fighters I have played over the years and most time its just crap.  Instead a good balance and fun characters list and the ability to play arcade mode is pretty much will tide most people over.  Competition online will be the meat so DH should have a very robust online mode or I agree the game will not hit any stride.  The key would be if KI can develop a dedicated online fighting community.

Of course you don't ... it's within the original $20 package.

I would like to know why "missed opportunity" was chosen by some of you?

A lot of people played Mortal Kombat for the story mode.

Besides, not everyone is a fighting game pro, 99% of everyone who plays fighting games aren't atleast, and after playing through whatever story or campaign mode, or maybe arcade once, other than playing online or offline with friends, they probably don't touch the game again.  These same people aren't in training mode on a regular basis as these people don't play fighting games and only fighting games.
