Forums - Gaming Discussion - What Next Gen Games Had Your Jaw Dropped?

1. X - Really impressed me, graphically and gameplay wise.

2. Mario 3D World - The second trailer literally made my jaws drop.

3. InFamous: SS - Looked really good.

4. Mario Kart 8 - Honestly, I did not expect this game to look as good as it did. WOW!

I cant say any made my jaw drop but the ones that got me the most excited was.

1. Titanfall ( Afther seeing this game it just makes game like Killzone, Battlefield and Call Of Duty look last gen )

2. Quantum Break ( The best trailer of E3. We dont know what was CG or actual gameplay and thats a good thing. )

3. Ryse: Son Of Rome ( The best looking game on any platform. ) Crytek says they have achieved the closest thing to movie quality graphics and so far it looks like they have. )

4. Zelda Wind Waker HD ( To me its the best game ever made. Watching the trailers just brings back memories and makes me want to get a Wii U to play it.

Quantum Break. - Im not sure why some posters dont know. But its confirmed 100% by Sam Lake EVERYTHING shown for Quantum Break os 100% In Engine. There is no CGI. The first trailer with the ship crashing into the bridge is actually a scene in which the player can control the camera, as well as slow down speed up etc etc. Remedy had to use Full in game engine for everything as alot of scenes in the game which look like cutscenes have direct control from the player.

In short Quantum Break ( apart from the live action stuff ) Is 100 % in game engine. It had to be from a gameplay design perspective. Like I said cutscenes being controlled by the player is part of the story. Ive alreay posted links in this thread that support this. But theres loads of sites out there that have interviews with Sam Lake.

What I really meant was how much was actually being controlled and how much was automated. I now alot of games use the in game engine to make cutscenes but its not impressive to me unless its something that can be controlled by the player. Still waiting to find out what was being controlled by the player.

I think thats even better really. Sam Lake said there was some full controlled player stuff in there. The fact you cant tell says it all really. Most people are betting on this.

Thats the part of the trailer that really sticks out as being something that was controlled. Looks amazing every time I see it.

Nothing really, it is hard to get blown away when PC is a leap ahead..

PC is leaps ahead in tech but where are the games that utilize the tech? Thats the problem with pc right now. Nobody is taking advantage of the hardware. PC needs more developers like Crytek that actually push for high end graphics in their games. I am really suprised Epic has not said anything about a new Unreal Tournament since they have made a new Unreal Engine.

Well it did not take that long to get a game that blew away PS3/X360 games (with Crysis). I don't think it will take that long to get a 'Crysis' kind of game this generation that surpass PS4/Xbox one games.  With the Steambox I believe Valve will show us something amazing (still hoping for HL3) that looks better than what the consoles can handle.

Left 4 Dead 3 is what I am wanting to see actually. Have not heard anything from Valve about a new Source Engine.

Monolith Soft's X

The Witcher 3

Bayonetta 2

Crysis.

My jaw dropped and still does. It's a game from 2007 that gives "Next gen" games a run for their money in every department. So I guess it qualifies as next gen.

Also, Star Citizen for Oculus Rift.

From a graphics standpoint Ryse, Killzone, and originally Watch Dogs. Nothings else really. Though i have an eye for some gameplay with Quantum Break

Many of them looked very good. Nothing made my jaw drop yet, except for the old Deep Down demo, but after TGS it looks like the final product is not even close to it.

It's harder for juggernauts like Killzone or Ryse or Infamous to impress me because I knew coming into this gen that we'd get an influx of such games. They are expected.

Therefore, my jaw dropped more at less realistic but more imaginative uses of next gen systems, like the Tolkien-esque atmosphere of Witcher 3, the sweeping alien landscapes of X, the particles of Resogun, fighting on the back of jet in Bayonetta 2, or Deep Down's medieval hell.
