Forums - Gaming - GTA 5: Rapper Wants Game Recalled Over Track Inclusion

They'll offer another low bid, basically something just below what it costs to replace the songs in the game via a patch.

I don't believe that will work.

While it may prevent the tracks from being played.  The songs are still distributed on the disc.  So they are still in clear violation of copyright law.

I bet the record label said yes. And he had no idea. LOL.

I bet he wouldn't give 2 sh*ts if the songs were in Wonderful 101. LOL.

I think that's a fair price for all the promotion a game like GTA can give you

If this is what it seems like it is, I think he's in the right and that there is no reason to defend R*.

Especially since it's an insult to be offered such a little amount. It is not only offending to the artist as R* thinks his songs are only worth that much, it is also offending in the fact that R* has made so much money and they can't even offer something more reasonable?

Hard to believe that Rockstar would make a mistake like that.. A manager of the artist probably agreed to the 4K and is scared of losing his job by telling the truth

I have to agree with this.  It seems strange that R* would make such a mistake as they have people that go out and get the license to include the music.  I higly doubt R* felt that this guys music was something they needed to include to make the game better and try to include it on the sly.  I am wondering if this guy knows who owns his music or the distribution and inclusion in order media.  This could be one of those situations where the guy stuff was sold by the label or publishers.

They wanted his music because he is a Cali based artist.

He was also hot back in the day for the other users in here who dont know. He wasn't nearly as big as somebody like Snoop Dogg but he was more relevant back in the day than he is now

What I am saying is R* has been in the business for a long time and they have gone down the license route before.  They know the ramifications of including any music without a license.  This is no high school BS some people are suggesting as if R* believe they are so big that they can include anyone songs without the license to do so.  If anything, it paints them a big target for ligation especially in the States.  Lawyers know eactly what can happen if music is used without the proper permissions and I highly doubt no matter how hot the artish, R* would risk their property over such a simple thing.

R* offered the guy some money and he tured it down.  I am pretty sure that would be it unless this guys song can be licensed in other means

RockStar shouldn't pay him more than the original offer. Or simply delete the tracks with a patch and let him have it. This jerk doesn't deserve the publicity they've given him.

Those songs are crap, he should have took the money. I wonder if he still owns the rights to his music, wasn't he part of Snoop Dogs Dogg Pound group?

Either way, if Rockstar didn't clear the rights, they should be sued. I know I would sue the hell out of them.

I've lost respect for a lot of people in this thread. Rockstar stole from the guy. He's in he right period. If he was the jackass you all are pretending he is. He'd demand an immediate cease and desist and R* would really be screwed. It amazes me how quickly people are willing to throw the law when it pertains to something they like.

Side note: How would patching out the songs help the situation? I swear fans are worse than a companies enemies. By patching out his songs they'd be admitting they stole them in the first place. His lawyers would have a feel day.
