Even if those people were stubborn as hell, gaming is gaming. They would be on an alternative, no matter how they want to deny it.

People consider you the biggest MSFT fan ever, and if what youare saying is correct, then this is simply amazing!

Before Microsoft came in I had every Nintendo console ever till that point. And had both Playstation and PS2.

I have no idea why I made a choice to go with Xbox first from then. Maybe it was Halo originally. Even at 360 launch, I wasn't solely Xbox. But the 360 library was one I really enjoyed. I suppose Sony lost me on the slow PS3 start, and Nintendo went down I direction I didn't like. Starting with Wind Waker.

Before Wind Waker Nintendo were ALL about AWESOME graphics and Awesome gameplay. They dropped the AWESOME graphics thing and I guess they lost me.

That doesn't mean Im shallow or not a real gamer. I want both Awesome gameplay and cutting edge visuals. Nintendo stopped catering for that audience.

I don't think I will remember them fondly or negatively. They've definitely done some good things for the industry. I had the 360. I enjoyed it the first 3 years as it had a lot of cool exclusives, but I spent most of my time on the PS3 after that as I found their offerings of games in later years lacking.

I wouldn't remember them very fondly to be honest. They have pushed certain aspects of gaming and games/genres that I don't really enjoy much like for example online gaming and shooters. I would be more than happy if developers would focus more on the single player aspect and multiplayer wouldn't be. an industry standard and often tacked on in every game.
MS was a big part of pushing it and succesfully. Whether I would be happy that they exit the gaming industry or not would depend on who would fill the gap. I would love Sony to take all that marketshare of course, but to be really honest, Sony have never been better for me as a gamer as of right now, and I believe that's mostly because they finally had a real competition this generation. Just like Augen said, they need a direct competitor to keep them in check, Nintendo is not, so there needs to be a third player so the Big 2 fight for the core gamer, which we ultimately benefit the most of.

While remembering enjoying the 360, I would applaud their departure. They're a game-making company that cares 20% about making games, 80% about shoving non-gaming bullshit down your throat, and 0% about its customers.

i think they have had a positive contribution in some ways. i appreciate trophies a lot. i think services like netflix would have come regardless but i think MS made it happen faster than it perhaps otherwise would have. ..but it's really hard to be nostalgic in any way over services.

games is what people get nostalgic over. i respect halo but i've never played. beyond that MS hasn't brought anything noteworthy imo.

I'd be indifferent. Used to love my Xbox and then Xbox 360 back in the "earlier" days. But it really felt like they gave up on me by 2010. Hopefully XBONE will start to excite me again, as I've always been a multi format gamer. But yeah, as it is, I wouldn't really care at all.

Yeah, I never really got into Halo, for me the big MS games were Dead Rising, Rallisport 2 (OMG why is this not on 360!?), the Project Gotham games and Crackdown. Also loved the early SEGA stuff they got for XB and the JRPGs etc they brought over in the earlier 360 days.

They seem to have all dried up now though.
