Forums - PC - Nvidia GTX Titan Ultra possibly being prepped

To be honest i've had a lot of driver issues with Nvidia for the GTX680 so i'm extremely hesitant if I want to purchase from them again.

You greatly underestimate AMD.

It isn't an underestimation, it's a fact. There's nothing out that would require nVidia to drop that new tech anytime soon. You do realize what Maxwell means, correct?

Maxwell will not be a huge leap forward if that's what you're insinuating here. It won't be the next unified shader architecture.

AMD barely makes profits at all.

It will be new tech, but I didn't say anything about how much (which matters none anyway, a tech jump is a tech jump). Just like Haswell-E will be new stuff over IB-E. The big jump, from nVidia, won't come until Volta in 2016/17. 

Still, at least we agree that there was no underestimation of AMD, just that, right now, they would have no rebuttal for Maxwell (which really won't be launching until Q2 2014, at the earliest).

I wasn't actually expecting them to be realeasing stuff early. I'd just like some information about their next line of products, instead of rebrands and sandwiches of old cards.

Oh yeah, this stuff's not cheap. I just picked up two of those itans (making this news a little frustrating). In my case, I'm a Game Designer and then some, but I truly need more CPU power than much of anything else. Rendering can be a bitch, even with the latest parts.

I believe it.

If I bought $2000 worth of cards and then found out that a newer version is on the way I would be a bit perturbed as well.

Every major company can afford to do it but its more about being forced to do it. I have no idea what you mean by AMD barely makes profts at all. They been dominating the video card market for years.

Boy band Green sells 500,000 records a year for $10 of profit on each. Boy band Red sells 1,000,000 records a year for $2 of profit on each.

This probably took the entire PC world off-guard again (Which is happening allot lately with Mantle, SteamOS etc').
I didn't even hear about any rumours in my normal rumour channels. D:

Titans are still going to be beastly, it's not like they will magically get slower with this new release, I would even be surprised if prices dropped suddenly.

It's more that 20nm yeilds are no where near where they need to be. Nvidia are actually behind the tech curve in several ways (no DX11.2 support) compared to AMD.
