Bold - for a system averaging 25-30k before? Yeah. It incread by 4-5 times only thanks to Christmas, that's a lot and it was doing good. Also the point Zero999 was trying to make abusing the Vita was just false.

Underlined - now where the hell did I say that? You need to get your eyes or reading skills checked, cause I've admitted the opposite in my post.

that's very little for a video gaming system, especially a young one. what it was selling before doesn't matter.

What I am looking forward to is 2DS sales and how it will impact the 3DS and its software library. The price-point of 129.99$ will be key during the holiday season and at Black Friday, I wouldn't be surprised if retailers sold them at 99.99$. Nintendo is going to have a marvelous holiday season with the 2DS & 3DS strategy. Wii U on the other needs marketing and awareness.

Wii U VGChartz numbers for the EU shouldn't be taken as facts. Nintendo's last financial report revealed that only 10 000 consoles were sold WW (excluding US and Japan) the three previous months. Yet the numbers on this site has been like 5-8k for EU every week as far back as I can remember. They weren't even substantially adjusted down the following weeks after these news.
So if WW hardware numbers for the week ending September 28 is ~43k, keep in mind that this number may very well be far off. Hopefully for the better. :)

While I don't disagree with the sentiment that VGC numbers shouldn't be taken as fact, they don't clash with Nintendo numbers.  As of the end of June Nintendo had shipped 1.02 million units to "Other" (everything outside of Japan and the Americas).  The most recent week VGC has Wii U numbers at only 754k in Europe (679k at the end of June).  This would suggest a large number of units still on store shelves which would explain the almost neglibible shipment last quarter.

lol at the bolded. 3d mario less important than 2d mario? 3d world controversial? not after the last video. 3d mario and donkey kong wouldn't have a much bigger impact than pikmin 3? stoped reading.

Well sorry to bring this to you. Compare the sales of 2D and 3D Mario. I haven't seen this "last video", I'm sure not everyone who got a bad impression of the first presentations has seen it - it's not that easy to repair something you broke, MS knows something about it. And no, they wouldn't have. Especially DK. It would be a very short lived spike. A one-time bump, just like after Pikmin 3. These are not the types of games that could turn the fate of the console.

this isn't about sales, you said it yourself that it was importance. 3d mario sells systems while 2d mario sells software. and even when we look at sales, 3d land is ahead of nsmb2 and even mario kart so that's obviously a popular format for a mario game.

repair what? the E3 trailer was great and the last one convinced even the naysayers. nothing to repair.

and keep believing big games like mario and donkey kong wouldn't have a lasting impact on sales.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up.

You guys should read the original argument again. It was argued that it would be an "uphill battle" for WiiU soon, meaning that sales would increase week after week. Then somebody countered that by saying that was obvious, because holidays always do that. Then Zero said Vita showed that the holidays mean nothing...which is simply false, given the evidence already put forward.

The original argument wasn't about seeing great sales, it was about seeing an increase. The holidays will naturally increase the sales. They would do that even without games.

Since everyone has entirely lost the plot in this thread anyway, I'll just take this aside to point out that the phrase "uphill battle" is not generally used to describe an improving situation.

Yeah, that was bothering me aswell when I first saw it used incorrectly.

english isn't my birth language. i won't always use expressions in the correct way.

I know that, but that is the phrase used by a user whose name escapes me. Even though he didn't use it right, he obviously meant that sales would increase.

poor choice of words but everyone got the idea. I meant "it's only uphill after that".

it was also stated that the only reason for that increase would be the holidays and that's just absurd. there are many exclusives and multis coming that will boost hardware sales. 3d mario is among then for crying out loud.

You missed his point. You said sales would increase week after week, and he said that would happen irrespective of games. He is right. But the games will of course boost it as well (although 3D mario is the only big game left for this year).

AND HE ALSO SAID THE GAMES WOULDN'T HAVE ANY IMPACT ON THE SALES, wich started the discussion.

I just hope you're not talking about me here.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Yeah, me either, I said like Pezus that systems rise during the holidays based on holidays alone. Games, price cut and other factors can and will also boost sales in the period.
