Forums - Nintendo - The graphics in Resident Evil: Revelations on 3DS is crap

Revelations looked fantastic and Im glad I pre-ordered Blackgate! Was skeptical at first but it really is looking nice.

Honestly, what were people here expecting from the 3DS since it's weaker than the gamecube.

The Nintendo 3DS CPU can clock a GPU at 400 MHz and does.

I don't see the GameCube doing more then around 200 MHz with its GPU clock at 194 MHz. And I don't see the Wii doing more then around 250 MHz with its GPU clock at 243 MHz.

The 3DS has way more better textures & shader abilities according to 3rd parties, and it has more then 120 million polygons clearly showing in its games, and it has somewhere from 60 to 100 shader cores. So what are you talking about.

The GameCube and Wii could never do Resdent evil revelations 3DS nor PS3 nor Castlevania 3DS nor batman Arkham Origins Blackgate nor kid Icarus uprising nor sonic generations 3DS nor cave story 3D.

The Wii can't even do the 3DS version of Donkey Kong Country Returns, which replace the Wii's cell-shaded graphics with pure polygon for 3DS.

Clock speeds don't matter much at all when the fact is the ati flpper features more shaders and texture mapping units for a greater raw power.

I want to see some sources for it's better texture and shader capabilites too if you don't mind. BTW it's GPU clock speed is 133 mhz http://imagequalitymatters.blogspot.ca/2010/09/tech-report-nintendo-3ds-hardware.html so that gives it 53 million triangles and a pixel fillrate of 533 million pixels a second. LOL about the pica200 60 to 100 shader cores. If that were true every 3DS would be frying since it can't handle that type of power consumption.

3DS

Gamecube

BTW resident evil 4 on gamecube looks better than resident evil revelations on the 3DS LOL. See how much better the bumpmapping is on the gamecube while also pushing a higher resolution too.

Just so you know almost every game uses polygons to render an image.

thats some fine schooling right there

It's what I do and BTW the maps are tiny in revelations compared to RE4 on the gamecube while also achieving an awful framerate.

oh i knew all that. I played Revelations and it was enjoyable, but some people hyped the crap out of it. The maps are tiny, and the framerate is worst and not as detailed as the console brothers BUT it is on a portable so I get that sacrifices got to be made, but lets not loose our minds and put it on a pedestal it doesnt deserve.

In any case I have to put people in their place so that they don't got out of line causing rukus around the forums. :P

Hmmmm.... I'm thinking no.

But it does look good, better than expected.

I feel like it makes a bit more sense to compare a native res screenshot in the campaign of revelations. They look, better.

Worse resolution than gamecube, but when comparing console to handheld graphics you always should do it per pixel.

You mean pixels per inch squared, right ?

Plus the 3DS is unimpressive in terms of hardware.

would rather play it on a vita, which is being released for, but in all honesty, the game looks dull as hell so i wont be playing it on either

No. I mean per pixel, the 3DS is stronger than the gamecube.

It's basically just an easy way to factor in the size difference between tvs and handheld screens. Shouldn't really be taken literally, but it's why players think Uncharted Golden Abyss looks much better than the first PS3 game, even though comparing images online would make most people think otherwise.

I thought the gamecube had a higher pixel fillrate but the fact is the 3DS is pushing a much lower resolution to achieve such fidelity.
