Poll is run by the rest of the members here which are Sony dominated site ;)  If you finished TLoU you know you watched about 1 hour 30 mins worth of cut scenes. TLoU is a snorefest. Sorry.


Yeah I finished it, watched an hour and a half of cut scenes, and on top of it played about 15 hours worth of pure gameplay. TLoU is the most emotionally moving, breathtaking game with exceptional gameplay. It's okay.



So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Artsy? How? There is nothing artsy about LOU, having good story and characters is not artdy. It's a pretty gritty, dark, game with great gameplay and is the entire package And LOU as great MP.

 

LOU is quality > quantity. GTA is quantity over quality.


TLOU is a great game but you have to admit it focuses more on being "artsy" than value. If they would have given more value over trying too be to arsty all the time I would have claimed it even better than GTA V


No I have to admit....ow is it Artsy? A troy and characters doesn't make something artsy. There is nothing artsy in TLOU. Journey is artsy, TLOU is simply not.

 

As for value? Quality > quantity. TLOu is more then enough value.


Personally, I disagree with your comment TLOU spends a vast majoirty of its time deveoping its characters my hinting on their emotions throughout the gameplay, and relied on the setting/ enviornment of the game to reflect that (mysterious, dark, depressed)...which is why I love the game so much but GTA V does that (not to the same extent...but fairly close) and more. And its not like GTA V doesn't have good quality, the characters, plot, enviornment may not be as well developed as TLOU but it just has so much good to offer that I'm left speechless. So I would pick a game that does 100's of things great (GTA V) rather than a game that just does 10 things perfecT (TLOU). 

I feel that TLOU could have had a longer SP mode..maybe like 20 hours (even if the qaulity dipped a little in terms of gameplay and story I wouldn't mind as long as it remains consitent most of the time. I just felt for the type of game TLOU was it could have been longer (more zombie shootouts, more horse time, more times in the slums and more time just hunting! ) Don't get me wrong, the SP is one of the best I've ever seen but it would have been THE BEST if it was 5-6 hours longer. They could have easily had a Zombie mode and co-op...I mean that game was perfect for co-op! And lastly more modes in MP...seriously only 3 modes...despite being really really fun...the MP was only 3 modes that were very similar and that didn't last too long. For me value is the amount of time you spend doing different things in the game...and despite TLOU slighty beating GTA V in areas like plot, gameplay mechanics (not acutal gameplay), visuals, and character development in terms of value and actual gameplay...GTA V left TLOU miles behind.


Bogus, gameplay mechanocs in GTA are average to bad. It tries to doo too many things and masters none. Hal;f of the things to do in the game are tacked on and serve really no purpose.

Based on your arguement I'm doubting you actaully played the game. It didn't get a 97 for trying too many things and mastering none. And I have heard very few people complain about the gameplay mechanics being tacked on...and most of them were PC fanboys who were upset that GTA V didn't come on PC.

Played and  finished it. The getting away from the cops has not changed in 8 years and is still too easy/simplistic. This needs a total revamp.

 

Shooting is poor, weapon handling is crap (GTA was never good at this)

 

Car ownership is still terrible, take a car on a misssion? Lose it most likely.

 

Darts is too easy and pointless, as is most of the side activites like tennis, golf, . The only thing good in the game is missions.

 

Owning business is really pointless and underdeveloped. Just a place to dump money in.

 

Whats the point of doing these little jobs for a few thousand dollars, when you make millions from lesters missions? That makes everything else pointless.

 

Same with the stock market, the game basically tells you in lesters missions where to invest in to make big money.

 

The mechanics GAT are dine better in other games, the ONLY impressicve thing about GTA is the sheer scale, attention to detail in the world.

I think The Last of Us will win the most awards this year. Not because GTAV is not good, but the first was a new experience and that always has a bigger chance to win, and rightly so.

Anyways i suspect The Last of Us will get like 50% of the awards, 40% for GTAV and the other 10% for Bioshock Infinite

but i bought GTA V on my PS3...

BioShock Infinite over either of those, with GTAV a close second and The Last of Us a close third. All top ten of the gen, easily (2, 7 and 8 to be specific).

Infinite? No way, gameplay was a bore and the story was a convoluted disaster imo. Overrated game. LOU was vastly better.

BioShock Infinite is my GotY thus far, and I can't imagine that anything else will be better in the remaining months of 2013.

Last of Us, both are great though, if TLOU didnt release this year my GOTY would be GTA.

TLoU wins for me because everything ND did they did right. GTA 5 has a great storyline and everything else is half-assed and glitched to the sky. GTA 5 is still a great game and tons of fun to play but TLoU is a step ahead in terms of what it wanted to do. Plus the online works in TLoU, so...
