Forums - Gaming - Crytek CEO: Ryse wouldn’t have run at 1080p on PS4 (Decision was choice, not hurdle)

Sure, trying to defend a game that your interested in by taking a shot at a game with potential intention to infuriate others. So please enlighten me, how is Beyond Two Souls a "gameish tech demo"?

Well I'm not interested in Beyond Two Souls because its barely a game. Does it even require skill to play?

But lets get back on topic, Ryse. Boy, that looks like a game. Hopefully its fun game!

The funny thing about this is it does not change the game at all. The content and the gameplay remain the same.

Basically this means anyone with a 50in + TV will notice a slight bit more blurring, and anyone under will not notice a difference. It is the same thing we saw this generation. Go play any game on a 60in TV then switch over to a 42in at the same viewing arrangement. The game will look much better on the 42in due to the 600-720p resolution on most games this gen.

So the moral of the story is, if you game on 50in+ this is not so good of news, if you are under 50in this has no effect.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

It´s confirmed:

Ryse is the most scrutinized and neat piked game of the history of games!!!

It´s funny that everyone seems to have forgotten the clunk animation and colisions from early builds. I would be more concerned with game play rather than graphic fidelity.

The funny thing here is that they confirmed that it was always 900p upscaled to 1080p, even at the E3 build that everyone praised for looking fantastic and being 1080p. Nobody denied it's visual excellence then, but now that Crytek has come out and said it is, and always was, 900p native.....people want to jump on it like it's this huge deal.

It's clearly not

This just in, low res > than high res...

No, he's saying there isn't significant difference between 900p and 1080p. He feels people can't really tell the difference. Perhaps he's right when you put on some of that anti-alising... antistropic filtering... and whatever else they do to hide jaggies.

For example, I didn't even know GT5 was 1080p. Riddled with jaggies!

No he was saying it was a "design" issue rather than "technical".  This implies that the game can run in 1080p with a playable framerate.  Thus 900p is "better" in a sense to 1080p.  This is obviously not true and most likely a lie.

I will judge it on my 70", if I don't notice the problems(blur) that many here think will show up. then it will all be the usual complaints about nothing.

LOL @ crytek. Full of crap as usual.

Ps4 as powerful as the Xbox One confirmed. About time a respectable developer admitted it.

I wonder if this might be a pattern this gen. Devs want to do more with the new consoles than just put out games that run at 1080p 60fps. They want more realistic graphics, particle effects, lighting, water, more things happening on screen, bigger environments. With all those ambitions the hardware still won't quite be up to doing all those things and 1080p/60fps. Personally I like that sort of compromise, lower the output but put in more details and realism. Heck I'm pretty happy for games to stay at the current 720p/30fps if it gives us more awesomeness in other visual aspects.

Agreed.
