Forums - Nintendo - Emily Rogers: “Wii U Owners Better Buy Ubisoft Games”

Many Nintendo fans like to act like they're the ony ones who recieve lazy, gimped or late versions of games and use that as an excuse to not buy games. Well other companies get late ports, lazy ports and/or gimped ports and the games still sell most of the time.

Just because a game got ported late, looks slightly worse, has a worse framerate or has something missing doesn't mean it isn't worth buying or is a bad game.

If Watch dogs and ACIV don't outsell Wind Waker HD thid parties should drop the WiiU because is clear the fanbase don't really care about third party and just want the same thing from Nintendo over and over.

What companies are you talking about ? Almost all multiplatform games were better on the PS3 and X360 compared to the Wii (and even Wii U now). Are you talking about mobile ports on IOS and Android ?

Why would I buy the worst version of a game on the Wii U if I can get a better version currently on the PS3 or eventually on a PS4 ?

If Watch Dogs or ACIV outsell Wind Waker HD on Wii U, I will be ashamed of Nintendo fans. And yeah ? Because im buying the definitive version of a timeless game instead of a new entry from one of Ubisoft annualized franchise (6 AC entries in 7 years), I definitely want to play the same thing over and over again.

I got Rayman Legends...

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

Didn't Activision try something similiar to Sony a few years ago with PS3? I really don't think Ubi will pull the plug on Wii U.

just bought zumbi U, and im going to get rayman and splinter cell, one day maybe ill get watchdogs...
done my part. do yours ubisoft.

Maybe Wii U owners own another console. Crazy I know.

if you actually read the whole thing you see i already addressed that. Hint: its in paranthesis

That's the problem. Most Wii U owners probably have another console, similar to the Wii gen. The amount of people who only have a Wii U is most likely very small.

thats fair and i agree for the most part but someone riddle me this, why do some Ninty fans swear that had this been released in Feb that it would have sold much better because their was nothing out back then? I could only assume they were talking strictly Wii U, because if they are multiplat owners there are ALWAYS games to buy especially in PS360 PC's case. Granted there wasnt anything GTA level in Feb but PS360 still had a regular release of games

Generally Nintendo fans, especially those on forums will trash a third party game for not doing something while defending a Nintendo game for not doing the same thing.

If they would take the same finger they use to point at third party games and point at Nintendo they would find a lot less to complain about.

Cannot blame third parties, they see Nintendo fans buying something in mass and cheering about it, then when they release a similar featured product suddenly they find themselves blasted and being called lazy and so forth by those same fans.

Hm... let me think about this a bit. Since Rayman is already part of the topic, I remember there was a huge outcry over the lack of online play in NSMB Wii. Nintendo fans obviously defended the game, then two years later Rayman Origins released without online play. Nintendo fans didn't bash Origins for it, neither did the people who made a huge fuss about NSMB Wii's lack of online play. A quite memorable double standard, although it wasn't employed by Nintendo fans.

So what conclusion can I draw from this? Probably that double standards of forum-goers don't matter one bit in the decision-making process of third parties, thus your hypothesis can be safely put into the garbage bin.

false people did complain about lack of online in Rayman Origins, but Rayman is no Mario so of course Mario is going to ge the worst of it since he is much bigger figure and quite frankly people are going to expect more. Lack of online is probably not doing Legends any favors either.

a) There aren't very many wiiU consoles out there
b) Don't make a game exclusive then make it available for multiplatform and delay it for 6 months even though its ready as well as release it during when key games come out and expect sales...

If they released it at that time, it wouldn't have pissed off wiiU owners and would have sold more copies and wiiUs... There is no reason they couldn't have done that and port it over after 6 months

I get that Ubisoft is supporting Nintendo and I am happy about it but some of the decisions companies make are so dumb

And yes, I didn't buy Rayman Legends because I had to save money for GTA V and WWHD

I doubt this has much to do with Splinter Cell but it almost certainly has a lot to do with upcoming Ubisoft games that WILL sell very well on other platforms. The Wii U versions will have to make a decent showing, at the very least. This isn't just about Ubisoft, either, as I'm sure the rest of the industry will be watching.

The preemptive excuses are just getting ridiculous, though.

Eh...I'm not too keen on their output.

I'll pick up Rayman down the line though.

Not sure if the half assed "ports" excuse is enough to justify the poor sales of third party games on the Wii U. The PS3 has its fair share of shoddy ports (this is definitely most apparent during the first few years of the 7th gen and it still gets a few today, SRIV anyone?), but sells relatively well and goes inline with the 360 versions of the games. I really just think that there isn't much of an audience for them on Nintendo home consoles. ~ For whatever reason.

If you want to play the games just buy them.. the publishers+devs will thank you for it. Honestly, it's better than not having any choice in the matter.
