I doubt this has much to do with Splinter Cell but it almost certainly has a lot to do with upcoming Ubisoft games that WILL sell very well on other platforms. The Wii U versions will have to make a decent showing, at the very least. This isn't just about Ubisoft, either, as I'm sure the rest of the industry will be watching.
The preemptive excuses are just getting ridiculous, though.
