I don't even think it's going to sell that lifetime.

That'd be a wise prediction, the best selling on DS is 18m, that's why a 155m install base.

Interest in 3DS (thus everything that comes along with it) is much lower in Europe and America than the DS.

install base doesn't matter, Ruby/Sapphire sold almost 16mil on a half user base than Diamond/Pearl (GBA vs DS). XY can do 16-20mil lifetime

It matters because Pokemon isn't at the popularity it was back in the late 90's. Even wit the higher userbase DS versions still couldn't come close to the original. Now couple the lower 3DS userbase (permanantly) with the decline in popularity (relatively, it's still humungous of course) = nowhere near 20m.

Nice to see you back Seece

How are things, I haven't spoken to you in a while...do you remember me?

Of course! Thanks! :)

Pokemon lifetime sales won't even beat GTAV's first week of sales.

no pokemon has sold that low

Black & White?

undertracked here, it sold almost 16mil, but XY will be bigger!

It won't be bigger than BW in the US for sure...the pre orders are far behind.

pre orders dont mean anything, XY could be bigger, there is no proof it cant. Its going to be huge, im not being an *** by saying 30mil! Im just saying XY could do 16mil-20mil lifetime.

Read my respone to cablebox's list of highest selling Pokemon games...that should explain stuff for you.

let me ask you, how much lifetime sales do you predict?

13-16 million. And I have known to be quite spot on with my predicitons...

Recently I even predicited GTA V a Billion in its first week weeks before the game had released and look what happened.

Depends on whether or not Pokemon can regain its popularity by, say, making a major change or two. I personally would reccomend going the 3D route for once.

Oh wait...

If you were there back in 1998/1999/2000 you'd now it's impossible for it to get as popular or anywhere close.

The popularity of Pokémon back then wasn't only drived by the games. If anything the anime and the trading cards had an even greater impact. And that's not coming back.

Nope, the anime and trading cards are what propelled it to its peak. Neither are popular anymore so the awareness is much less.

Also, did you forget about the 2DS? :P

1.) It's sales not sells.

2.) No way in any type of setting. Hell, Earth, Space, etc.

I don't think so, Thou based on it's first week sales (pokemon's) well see... if they are good i have no doubt it will destroy GTA V (well almost every game) in LT sales, but it will all depend on the first week, i say 5m = Bad - 7/8 = ok/expected, 10/11m = AmazingFW, 15+m = bow before the videogames god because there's nothing left to do -- but over 11m is highly unlikely, hell over 8 million would be too good for pokemon, that's what i'm betting for (8m) giving more value to what i just typed - God of Videogames if that (over 10+++ million) happens.

Destroy GTAV? The highest selling Pokemon sold 31m, a number which this Pokemon really doesn't stand a chance of reaching, and GTA will undoubtably sell more than that.

You think X/Y doesn't stand chance against R/B but i think it does, as simple as that. I can see this game selling more than the original pokemon but that's an ''If'' - if hype for it is a big as i think it is, as i see it is, we'll see that in the first week sales, it wont prove if i'm right or wrong it will just tell me what i need to know, after fw i'll tell you if it can or if it can't sell more than 31 million LT

The orignal Pokemon games had originality behind them in those days. The brand is 17 years old. They aren't getting 31 million again. And also, there where 3 versions released.

there were two versions, not three. Green/red were in japan, while red/blue outside of it

If I was referencing that kind of 3D, I would've said stereoscopic 3D.

I understand. My problem is with the implication that X/Y won't perform nearly as well as the DS versions.
