8 times? Poor you and I fully understand you.

It seems I am very lucky that all my 3 Xbox360, 20G white, 120G Elite & 250G Slim S are working finely now. It is very strange that all my 360 are still survived, but my first 40G PS3 got YLOD few weeks ago. (I also own 3 PS3, 40G fat, 120G slim and 500G super slim.)

Nintendo makes the most reliable hardware. Sony and MS wayyyyyy behind. Although the 1st box was a tank the 360 brought the brand down. It's reliable now but took too long.

at the end of my x360 when i traded it in, i spent:

$450 at launch
RROD1 - free repair
RROD2 - $125 for repair from ms
RROD3 - waited until the slim came out
$300 - xbox 360 slim
Traded it in torwards PS4 after E3.

i feel your pain OP.

however i have not written off xbo all the way since the changes, im skeptical at them keeping them that way. if they keep good, i might have to splurge for an xbo when halo 5 is out.

Iv owned my 360 since 2005 and iv had no issues with customer service or problems with the system. Its been great to me and ill continue with the XB1. But if your expecting anything better from other companys when it comes to customer service and problems then your most likely going to be disapointed. There all the same.

Bad customer service can be the breaking of people when it comes to certain companies. I know sometimes our CS bend over backwards to satisfy people, even when I say 'Our system can't do that.' I always did find it funny when people said 'MS have great customer service' when dealing with RROD problems, when the best customer service is a customer service you don't have to call.

Hmm, pie.

Sorry you had it so bad. My experience with Microsoft has been awesome. They fixed my 360 once when it was out of warranty because the lady on the phone told me to say it was RRoD when it was really just the disc drive. They let me keep my digitally downloaded games on two different consoles instead of just one (I don't have to log in for games I've purchased up to that point).

Meanwhile, Sony's customer service didn't even know that I couldn't re-download movies after I deleted them. Lost over a hundred dollars worth of videos.

Those are my only customer service experiences, unfortunately. I'm one of those "Own every console" people, too. I thought the Microsoft customer service rep was very nice and knowledgeable and the Sony rep was an ass. Never had a problem with Nintendo hardware.

A lot of customer service firms are based in India and Philippines. I know from first hand experience that cellphone companies use the Philippines. I've talked to AT&T reps in Philippines. My cousin is a rep for Verizon. People need jobs and I am glad that they do outsource to third world countries. It is so hard to get a decent paying job and make a living. Try living in a third world country and see if people complain about petty issues like this. People are just trying to live. This type of first world whining about how you are being treated over a videogame system pisses me off. A lot of people treat customer service reps like shit, like they are entitled to everything. Show some humanity people. There are more important issues in the world than your videogames. You're pretty much yelling at a poor person who needs to feed their families. Help them understand you, it's not their native language. They didn't break your game system.

Had 360 that kind of failed 4 years after launch. The video would change from color to b/w and back again intermittently. I bought an new 360 and have never looked back. Still have the other 360 and it still works, but the color changing drove me nuts. I guess I don't particularly blame M$ for it, it was 3 years out of warranty. I think the problem is that most of us are spoiled by Nintendo's earlier systems that never really broke. You have to look at the systems a little different now, they have lots of moving parts and depend on a lot of different outside things to work proeperly. Not many of the electronics that are as complicated and get used that much last that long. I do agree, 8X in a couple of years is really bad!

I'm making this thread just to express my frustration with Microsoft. This is my opinion, and it may be biased, but since I literally own every console, I feel it's legitimate.

Console is broken (8x), I bought a separate extended warrenty from Best Buy, can't they just replace my broken console instead of you?

It looks like Microsoft has learned from the 360's hardware issues since they're going out of their way to ensure the Xbox One has a very large amount of cooling (size of console, power brick, employee comments, etc).

Won't repair MS brand parts. I bought a 360 gaming wheel for Forza 2 and PGR3 back when the 360 released. I enjoyed it for 2 years, but in 2009 they discontinued it because of a push towards Kinect. That's fine, but the problem was my dog chewed the power cable, the wheel doesn't recognize 3rd party power supplies (even if you match the voltage and amps), MS pulled all new wheels off the shelf, and they don't stock resupply parts.

A lot of companies don't supply parts for discontinued products and I think it's unreasonable to blame them for something your dog did to be honest.

XBLG can't redeem code. Lots of problems, I've had to change my account just to register a short term XBLG code, and couldn't play Windows games on my windows phone for months because of it. I've had a lot of problems here, I just don't want to start.

I'm guessing this is because you forgot a password for the email you used to register your original account (or something like that).  If that's the case you shouldn't be blaming them for something that is your fault.

Windows Phone I can't use my paypal account, which is on my XBL account, and I've been on the phone for a solid hour and a half now now. All for Crimson Dragon for $0.99.....

Your complaint should be with PayPal since it's their app that is causing the issue.  It should also be a reason why you would want a Xbox One as the certification process for apps on Xbox consoles is notoriously stringent.

That's my rant.....while you're here, what next gen consoles are you buying? For me:

So in summary any issues you had with Xbox 360 look extremely likely to be solved with Xbox One (except for your dog chewing on electronics which is on you).

PSV - Down the road, I bought a PSP just last year, still have 20 games for it. Plus I softmodded it to play GBA/PS1 games, so I'm playing all the GBA/PS1 games which I own (I'm doing this legit), and well I have a lot of PS1 games. So I'm in no rush for a PSV, but I will get one, one day.

I'm returning a PSV that I bought a week ago because of dark streaks on the screen whenever the screen is completely black.  In fact issues with Vita OLED screens appears to be common based on Internet postings I've read so I'm not going to bother getting a replacement.  That's not going to stop me from buying other Sony products in the future though as I judge each product on its own merits (I've owned a PSP for years and love it for example).
