I know many PS fans want them to fail or downplay their line-up and it is clear why they do so but keep in mind that competition is what keeps the industry driving. I doubt PS4 would have been built with such an effort if 360 wouldn't have been such a success. But who am I talking to, people want to be on #team-win and so every "own" exclusive gets hyped while other exclusives are downplayed. Like every other gen. |
Depends how you look at it.
Competition brought PS online into a $50 fee.
Competition lock certain people with single consoles from playing games that would otherwise be multiplatform.
Competition keeps current gen console's prices high.
Competition creates massive fanboy wars. (lol)
Competition often creates terrible games that are gimped for being multiplatform. (though this vs point number 2)
Honestly atm I believe MS is shooting for profitability over beating Sony in console sales, like with decent HW sales but still profitable. While Sony is looking for massive HW sales to drive profits. So if the Xbone sells worse then the PS4 but is more profitable then I would not see a problem. And looking at VGC preorder numbers (which could be very wrong) it looks like Xbone will be fine in 2nd.
