Forums - Sales Discussion - Who will be on top? PS3 vs 360

It is a war- HD console war and the PS3 will win easily over the X360. PS3 will sell a lot more hardware than X360. PS3 has the best AAA titles in the upcoming years. What does the X360 have after Gears of war 2 and Fable 2? Pauses..... nothing people move along.

The Xbox360 will outsell the PS3 2nd half of this year world wide.

May as well go against the grain eh?

Reasons?

1. Awesome games that cater to a different audience this year (JRPG/RPG) and not shooters. Different audience = different market to sell to = more sales.
2. They can make a price cut and still be profitiable.
3. They are in the next best position behind Nintendo to utilize motion controls. Because A, they have one foot firmly set in the mouse dominated PC world. B, They have launched 3 hardware SKUs so they can be flexible and modify their offerings to suit the market, C. They can afford it.
4. They look like they are going to update their console lineup @ E3 so they can raise the specs to compete better with the PS3 technically. Wifi/HDD size etc.
5. They haven't had a price cut recently in North America, yet they're still going strong so they have the chance to grab the Sub $299 market share before Sony gets there in North America.
6. Come Jasper RROD will be a distant memory.
7. They don't have to raise their sales by much to beat the PS3 week on week averages and if they win this years Holidays substantially the PS3 will never recover.

The 360 fired all its best shots last year and the PS3 still managed to outsell the X360 by 1 million consoles for 2007. In 2008 the PS3 has a better game lineup and the PS3 will sell like 6 million consoles more than the X360 in the second half of 2008.

Well, I guess they're reloading and firing again. Are you going to say this time next year that the "360 has fired its best shots in 2007/2008" and so on? You know what? I consider the PS3 to have the "far superior" Shooter lineup. Yet I make this prediction anyway. The FPS market it tapped, you won't see huge growth in that area from now on. So its like going into the goldmine after the Xbox360 took the best nuggets. RPGs are the area where we can see greater growth from now on.

Tease.

This was a good necro-post.

Lots of people in this thread got Pata-pwned.

2. Source?
3. What does a mouse have to do with it? What does have multiple SKUs out have to do with it? If anything that would make it more difficult. And finally, are you saying Sony cannot afford it?
4. Raising the specs on a new 360 does nothing, developers still have to make it so the game can run on all of the Arcades out there.
5. You should already know by now that America alone isn't going to keep the 360 afloat.
7. You could also say PS3 wouldnt have to raise sales much to stay ahead of it.

The 360 still has the greatest market share but the Ps3 has the momentum now so everyone knows the Ps3 will eventually have the largest market of the 2 underdogs.
It's dissapointing that the sixaxis is only being used properly by very a few developers and many of the possible ways to improve gameplay with it have not eventuated so far or may never happen.!

I have only been able to spend $60 worth on games because most of them are unplayable crap - think i will get a PC it at least it has mouse support in FPS games. This lack of quality games turned out to be huge bonus though because with the money saved i was able to get something far far better - inline skates !

2. Can't be bothered to look!

3.  Mouse = Air mouse = Wiimote - motion controls. They can tap PC developers to take advantage of the controls and pc developers can more easily port games that take advantage of said controls. There are a lot of game companies such as popcap and games like "the sims" that can rapidly expand the game library with a simple port. Sony hasn't got that luxury.

4. Im not talking about game specs - Increase HDD space to better leverage downloadable content and movie on demand functionality. Wifi with N spec so to encourage people to plug in their console and prevents those people who NEED wireless going with the competion needlessly. Perhaps Blu-Ray in the Elite SKU to go toe to toe with the PS3?

5.I know that but the difference isn't much so a switch around is very possible.

7.Ya - but I had to go against the grain. ^^

Anyway, your opening post should be entitled "Why the PS3 will be on top".  Clearly that is what you believe and I doubt anyone could give any reasons that you may take on board as to why it will not.  Basically its a rant.

 Agreed.

I am shocked on a daily basis, by the grammatical errors and spelling mistakes made in these forums.

People seem to be losing the ability to articulate their thoughts into any kind of coherent, readable format.

3. So you're saying Sony has no experience with Mice, and could not create Air Mice? As far was Wii-like motion controls Micrsoft and Sony are exactly the same, neither has the advantage.
4. Increasing the harrdrive size on your console isn't going to magically make those millions of Arcades have a HDD, adding Wi-fi, especially Wireless-N is only going to make their console less profitable (If it is indeed profitable now), and a Blu-ray drive especially would put them right back in the red.

Really your only possible reason why the 360  would be able to surpass the PS3 in sales would be 5.

3. NO! Its all about SOFTWARE. The ease of porting + similarities in interface makes it quite obvious. Hardware, anyone can do it or pay someone to.

4. Its to make it a better media centre - an easier console to network and blu ray drives only cost $150 at newegg. They are cheap and since they're doing a refresh they could easily sneak a decoder chip from ATI to make it a cooler/quieter playback machine. An elite @ $150 with blu ray would still be profitable if the PRO SKU is profitable at $300. Blu ray = Strictly a media functionality addon - and since the Elite is meant to be the best media centre of the lineup - Blu ray is a shoe in.
