Forums - Movies & TV - 'Breaking Bad' prequel series 'Better Call Saul' is coming to AMC

If you've been mourning the coming end of AMC's Breaking Bad, today's a good day: the network is moving forward with a spin-off series based around the adventures of Walter White's attorney, Saul Goodman. Deadline reports that the show is tentatively titled Better Call Saul, and will actually take place before the events of Breaking Bad.

Played by Bob Odenkirk, the character of Saul Goodman is a favorite of both fans andBreaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, and the idea for a spin-off has been floated for some time. AMC has now closed the licensing deal it needed with Breaking Bad producer Sony Pictures TV, and the show is expected to get a series order once deals are closed with Odenkirk, Gilligan, and Peter Gould, the writer-producer that co-created the character. It will be an hour-long show that is expected to focus more on the lighter side of things — no surprise given the nature of the Goodman character, but according to Deadline it wasn't necessarily a given that the show would land at AMC. Multiple other networks, including Netflix, were in conversations about the spin-off before AMC closed the deal.

No shit? :D I remember reading some rumours and stuff but didn't think that will happen :D I will watch the shit out of it!

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Really excited for this and hope it lives up to breaking bad. Saul is one of the best characters on Breaking Bad.

I just hope people aren't expecting this to replace Breaking Bad as a "must-watch" show. Saul Goodman is good in a few scenes per BB episode because he provides necessary comic relief, as the show is extremely heavy and sometimes depressing. Not sure how a show with Goodman as the main character is going to play out. It can't all be comic relief. Not if they want the show to last.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Bob Odenkirk is a comedic genius and will make this show great.

It doesn't have to be a drama. It might primarily be a comedy.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

This is going to be awesome.

Can't wait to see it. love the character.

naaaaaaaaaah I predict this won't last long, Saul is good as a supporting character but as a main character I think people would get tired of him fast and i don't think he ever had a worst client than mister white so the episodes will look stale in comparison to the breaking bad

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

If the writers are on board you really have nothing to worry about. You think the writers of BB won't have ideas for a character like Saul?

Dunno we will see in time
