Huh? They've already achieved 60FPS in MP, but are now targeting 60 for SP.

We'll have to wait and see if they'll actually achieve that in SP. Simply based on what we're hearing, I'm not anticipating it.

To be fair, many thought this would be the gen that 60fps and 1080p would be common. Its disappointing to see that isn't the case.

I'd even settle with 720p to have 60fps.

Hardly a disappointment. Developers can always choose to go with 60 fps. The question is, does it really worth it? Knowing that you can use these resources in other aspects of the game ( better AI, more things going on on the screen, better effects, dynamic weather.. etc). In my opinion it doesn't. However, I'm sure most of developers will push 1080p at 60fps once they have a better grasp on the hardware.

What you're saying is kinda irrelevant because in this case (Killzone Shadow Fall) the developers are opting not to have 60fps for a higher resolution. I think the best solution is give people an option in the options menu. 60fps with 720p or 30fps for 1080p.

Huh? They've already achieved 60FPS in MP, but are now targeting 60 for SP.

They have? I thought they settled for 30FPS in SP and are targetting 60FPS for multiplayer

lock it at 30 or 60 or you will see tearing. But there are things you can do to limit the tearing to the top and bottom 10% of the screen, which makes it almost unnoticeable.

Still a locked frame rate always feels smoother than a fluctuating one, even if it is slightly higher.

Hope they hit 60 on this one, although the MP is already confirmed 60 which is where more hours will be spent for me i reckon.

Just make it rock solid and I can easily settle for 30fps, just don't make it unlocked 60fps with 20 fps dips and tearing.

Also we're sure they are talking about SP, not just repeating info about MP that was posted first on Twitter?

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

I have the opposite stance. I have no reason not to believe them.

Bear in mind they're aiming for it, not promising it. So I'm not disagreeing they're aiming for it.

Can't wait for this 60 fps madness to go away. Overrated, overhyped, over-everything. Is it noticeable? sure. Is it cool to have? Yup. Is it important? NO.

This is a developer choice. It has nothing to do with gen, as in hardware. In any (recent?) generation so far and for at least the next one, there'll always bee better looking games at 30FPS than at 60FPS. It's a choice.

But, since initially KZSF was supposed to be 30FPS, maybe they are listening to the requests for 60FPS since they are trying to do this. So maybe this gen will become the 60FPS gen.

I really prefer having better frame rates than resolution and textures.

Have anyone played wonderful 101 for example? It runs great it feels like a toy box, if that game ran less than 60 frames it wouldnt be fun, same with all FPS games, why do you think people prefer Call of Duty over others, hint it's not the graphics

The reason 30fps is what most devs aim for is that while you can notice it, it still looks somewhat smooth. 40fps and up will look smooth to most people. Supposedly though there's no one that can visually tell the difference between 60fps and up, although higher framerate, even beyond 60fps is still good since it'll react better to what your input was. You might not notice the difference, but it's there.

I hope they achieve it but then it has to be a rock-solid 60fps. Nothing worse than unstable framerate.

You are very wrong, play older games on your pc and compare them to their console counterparts, you'll see when a game "runs better" it's actually better to have than fancy graphics and effects.

DmC Devil may cry for example was really a step down from previous games because it was 30 fps on consoles and didn't feel fast paced enough to be a proper devil may cry, on pc it ran very very smooth, the developers focused too much on making the game look realistic while making it run like crap.

This is something very common with western developers vs eastern developers, the west makes their games gritty and realistic which makes them more tailored to PC, but Japanese developers for example care more about making the game run more smoothly, do you think Mario or sonic or even kingdom hearts or final fantasy games would be fun if the games in slower frame rates?

Compare the godawful frames rates of a mass effect/Dragon age game to a final fantasy/kingdom. Hearts game you'll see which is better on consoles.
