it's saturation, not that it's completely saturated but it's a big factor in the slowing down of sales. 20 million sales is 1 out of every 6 people, even with the saturation starting it's still probably gonna sell another 10 million lifetime. You have to keep in mind this isn't the end of the life cycle at all, by the end it'll be at like 30 million which means 1 out of every 4 people have a DS.

doesn't this just mean that ds has competition in japan? nothing else. ds will still outsell but there is a chance that ds will buckle in sales from time to time. let the games come and the price drop, it will back to normal me thinks.

i think nintendo will drop price after DGIX, they know that game could sell a truckload of DS's at the current price point, i think nintendo's waiting so they can squezze just a bit more money

Well , lets wait for the DS redesign , that we will see the DS selling another 10 million units in Japan . Still everyone has to admit that the PSP is doing gret hardwarewise lately :)
