 Not really, PS3 is a follow up to the PS2, PSP and DS are different

Ah ok, well VGC has them a little less, so either it has or its very close, but either way it may be time to think price drop in japan, what is the current price there anyways?

Exactly, it's still at 16,800 yen, which is about ~$156. That's one reason I haven't picked one up, yet.

The DS is sooo much more popular than the PSP here in JP. I always see people with a DS on the train, etc. Small kids, HS kids, people in their 20-30's, businessmen, etc. Hell my gf's mom even has a DS(a pink one)! I usually only see JHS/HS boys and sometimes guys in their 20's with PSPs.

@ Ds fans - lol at you all getting shitty :P So what! let psp fans enjoy our little win. Wow it's not like the psp beats the ds every week, so it's good to see it sell more in a week. I'm wondering why it sold so much and why the ds is low. Anyways - ps brands are moving forward.

 We will be laughing much sooner than that. When will people learn not to make fools of themselves by posting stuff like this. I mean the 360 actually outsold the PS3 in Japan last year for one week. Followed by the PS3 topping the both the 360 and the Wii in Japan. In the greater scheme of things neither feat mattered.  You post trends, not isolated incidents.

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
