Forums - Sony - PSVITA.TV just announced!!!

Who is this for? The Sony fan that cant afford a PS4 (or PS3 for that matter?) The non-gamer that doesn't already have a netflix device? Sony fans that don't leave the house so they wouldn't need a portable device? Who?

This is sort of cool. But, sort of weird.

But couldn't this cannabalize PS3 or PS4 sales, or divide the userbase a bit.? They're now going to have essentially 3 home consoles, the vita, PS3 and PS4.

It's a cheap device that lets you use streaming services. I wonder if remote play will let you do 1080p through the PS4 to a tv screen. At 100 bucks its useful for that feature alone. The vita isn't a 1080p screen.

Press release says 1080i...

There is a market of people who play games casually and don't want to spend $300+ on a new console. These are the people who buy PS2 slims, Wii's, or 4gb Xbox 360's. By introducing a console at $100 to go along with the $250 PS3 and $400 PS4, Sony is covering all their bases.

which is comparable than 720p, so it doesn't provide full HD.

Won't this hurt the Vita? If I can buy it for 100$ and it can play Vita games, why would I buy a 200$ Vita? I mean I know Vita is a portable handheld and with this TV thing you can't leave your house with it...but stil, I feel like it will somewhat hurt the hardware but it will help the software sales.

Most of the console hardwares are sold at a loss. They make money from softwares and subscriptions. If people gets ps vita.tv then it will increase vita software sale and people might get ps+ (if it works in ps vita.tv) and gaikai. Its a smart decision.

Hold on, this is PS Vita for your TV? How would games that require touch screen functions work?

Oh an that dad and daughter pair playing Devil Dice, you only need the D-pad for that game, what are they doing?

Hmm, pie.

......Vita killer?

Not all Vita games will be supported because of that.

With the PS4 and DS4 my guess is it will
