My Fusion also drives great, but sadly has close to no extras. I am also not a big car person ;) I use a car to drive from a to b. I won't spend much money in a car unless I become a millionaire. And even then... The european Fusion is a very conservative and quite boring car. It works, it seldom has any damages so you won't have many costs after buying but overall not a famous car. I like it, it was cheap and does what it does :)

And yes, I also bought it to last 10 years!

I had a Mazda RX7 - it was a great car. But non power steering and parallel parking on the street was touch (especially when my 350+ pound roommate in the car.)

But what I want, is a driver - I don't really even car what kind of car.  Just would like to know that I can have a glass of wine with dinner and be OK on the way home.

I don't drive. I can drive just not legally. Never bothered learning due to living in cities and travelling publich transport. However, my ideal cars would be:

Toyota Hilux (high rise) from 1985. (Back to the Future style).
Datsun 260z or 240z
Ford Capri from 1975 in Yellow
Aston Martin Vantage 1979

What was the maintenance like on the RX7? I heard they are expensive to up keep :P

Mine was very, very good.  Ran so smoothly, great handling.  Never had any problems through 80,000+ miles.  Seriously, easier than any Honda I have ever had.

One drawback, is you had to use premium fuel, which is more expensive.

Then another tip I got somewhere, was to use synthetic oil.  It helps lubricate the rotor corner inside the engine and helps keep it going.  I think it was part of the reason I never had to do an engine overhaul.

I could take the roof off too and drive it around.  It was a great little car and I miss it sometimes.

Note: You do have to make sure you have a good mechanic as it is not a typical engine.  I had one mechanic run up to me an enthusiastically say, "I love those cars!"  Yea! I thought, someone with a passion who is also a mechanic.  This is going to be a good match.  Then he asked, "Is that the 4 cylinder or the 6?"  My smile faded, my shoulder dropped, and I turned and started walking back to my car.  He goes, "hey, I want to work on your car, what gives man?"  I told him, "You can't say you love these cars and ask me that question.  As it reveals you do not even have a basic understanding of these cars."  And I drove off and found a better mechanic.  (Note: I would do all the oil changes myself, but I didn't do breaks and the like.)

It works fine for me so far, even though it is pretty old already. We (my girlfriend and me) bought this one just 2 years ago:

So we are just fine so far with 2 decent cars for our age (24 & 27). We want to buy this one, because we will be parents in a couple of months

and we bought this, a nice plot of land to build our house on. It is a bumpy road, but it is simply BEAUTIFUL. A nice little clearing in a forest in a small neighbourhood. So a more offroad-car would be welcome.
