Forums - Sales - Why do Xbox 360 games sell so much better than PS3 world-wide?

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that many PS2 users jumped ship to Xbox, and a lot of the early PS3 sales were for a "media center" purpose.

No, it is no secret that Western multiplats generally sell better on the 360. Not sure why you're having an issue comprehending this. There are about 10 million more 360 owners in the west than there are PS3 owners, so it completely makes sense. Notice how all of the games in your list are Western? The Japanese home console market is much smaller than in the west, so obviously most of the highest selling software will be on the console with a mostly Western install base, as opposed to the one with a mixed install base, at least when overall hardware units are similar numbers (which is the case with PS360 both at ~80 million)

So PS3 sells more hardware and has JRPG gaming pretty much exclusively while X360 has sold more software regardless and Im not comprehending something? lol ok then.

First of all, it should be pointed out that the PS3 is actually catching up to the 360 in overall software, meaning it sells more on average each week, now that they essentially have the same install base. So far it has sold 54.4m this year, as opposed to 45.7m this year for 360.

The fact that you put a chart of the top selling software which, big surprise, is all Western, and are looking at overall software (which includes the 360's year lead and install base advantage for the vast majority of its life) rather than current trends is very telling of how your comprehension of this issue is.

Usually Xbox games will start out selling better, but over time the PS3 versions slowly take them over.

And as i stated before this is coming from exclusive titles.  Mainly the numerous JRPG games that PS3 gets exclusively.  Even the numerous First party games sony is recieving each year is helping.  Every game that sells 100k helps.  But when it comes to big time multiplat games X360 wins the majority of the time.

Dude, dude......stop, please.

The United states buys more games than any other places, and MS has over 10 million lead in that region. Here's your answer.

Do not tell me to stop when that was my very first post on the very first page

That should have been the only post because your other ones differ to it. And the difference in total software is not  really the same reason.

The PS3 had major software issues the first year plus was released a year later. The reality is the 360 and PS3 sell about the same in software.

They dont differ at all actually.  I said every time that big multiplat games are selling more on X360 while Sony has Japan locked down with multiple JRPG exclusives.  Look at my first post again and you can see I said "Without Japan"

Please do explain how much you think this JRPG exclusives you speak of sell compare to a game released in the US?

If 100 JRPG games sells 200K a piece that comes out to beinng 20,000,000 copies sold.

If X360 sells 1m more for each multiplat game, lets say 20 that comes out to being 20,000,000 sold.

This is generally what happens(though exagerated).  JRPG are not being bought for X360 but X360 sells more western multiplat games.  This was the question after all, why is it that X360 games sell more worldwide.  X360 has sold more world wide and this is because of big multiplat games sell more on X360 whether it be by a little or a lot it adds up in the end.

So what i am saying is that all those JRPG games add up.

Because more PS3 owners are satisfied with their current library and don't feel compelled to purchase new titles. The Xbox 360's higher software sales can be explained by a lack of satisfaction.

I think the fact that PS3 attach rates in the US are roughly equal to 360 attach rates tells us that this is a regional issue.  I don't think the "multiplats are better on the 360" holds much weight at all.  Most games are basically the same and most people don't own both consoles.  Besides, that's only a perception forum readers would believe.
