Forums - Gaming - As if we needed more dev confirmation that the PS4 is over 40% more powerful than Xbone

The key here is:

The most powerful console
The cheaper of the two consoles
The best 1st party studios
Easier to program by far than the Ps3
More indie devs than XboxOne
Bigger launch window line up
Cheaper online
Less items behind a paywall

Isn't that a potential good combination? It's not like the Ps4 has only one or two little things going for it right now, it seems to have a lot.

Add to that the following:

Better design, smaller, cooler, fancier, more efficient with no gigantic power brick

Better brand recognition

Better aging process, it will have more games down the line and will live longer

Most probably better hardware durability record

Better peripherals support (like an upgradable hard drive, and controllers that don't need batteries!)

Handheld integration with Vita...

etc...

As a note on the last item, I wasn't thinking of buying a Vita as I was using my ipad as my main mobile device recently (after PSP), but coupled with PS4, Vita might be a good option. On the other hand, I have NO interest in any Microsoft made mobile system whatsoever.

This. I dont understand any reason to buy a Xbone other than brand loyalty.

First party exclusives. Even though those don't interest me I wouldn't dismiss it for everyone (Though I would say the price point is definitly steep for almost everyone but if they want to spend their money thats on them)

Most are coming to PC, it more useful to have a PS4 PC combo that to have a  xbone PC because Xbone and PC overlap a lot in terms of games. So at the end you are putting up with all the cons for just 1 or 2 games that are not on PC or PS4.

It's quite easy! Watch.

Most powerful = irrelevant. I enjoyed the PS2 and it was not only less powerful, it was the LEAST powerful. I enjoyed the Wii and it was not only less powerful, it was the LEAST powerful. I also enjoyed the 360 and it was less powerful. Also, I have a gaming PC. If I cared about power, I wouldn't bother with these adorable little consoles.

Cheaper = I have money. I can see this being an issue to those on a tighter budget though.

Best 1st party = opinion
Easier to program than PS3 = that's great but I plan on playing games, not making them

More indies = At launch, certainly. I don't buy consoles for timed exclusive indie titles though. But I did love the shit out of XBLA this gen. So this will be something I keep my eye on down the road

Bigger launch window lineup = another opinion. I mean.. have you seen Titanfall? Can I play that on PS4? No? Then for me, Xbone wins this category.

Cheaper online = what is it, $10 less per year? And that is only if you buy subscriptions at maximum price, which only schmucks do. Please guys, don't be schmucks.

Less behind paywall = Irrelevant for me, I don't use Netflix on my consoles. My kids do, but I have smart televisions in my office and bedroom. Seeing how I will be subscribing to PS+ and XBLG, this doesn't matter for me.

You see? All perfectly logical, valid reasons, without a morsel of "brand loyalty".

"I have money. I can see this being an issue to those on a tighter budget though."

"what is it, $10 less per year? "

" Irrelevant for me, I don't use Netflix on my consoles"

This is brand loyalty,  giving away extra money for less features.

" timed exclusive indie titles though"

"have you seen Titanfall?"

You expeculate that the indies are timed exclusive and that titan fall is not when there is no evidence of any of those assumtions.

"Most powerful = irrelevant"

Relevant only when pairded with the best developers, Sony has better first party studios, and the fact they for the first time have access to a more powerfull easy to program console will make a difference compared to pass generations

"Best 1st party = opinion"

a widely shared one, just look at the metacritics scores, also pay attention to who has the most innovatives titles.

"that's great but I plan on playing games, not making them"

Exactly, easier programming means better and more games, but oh well

You, in this case might have some unjustified reasons, there is a difference between a reason and justification, here you have your reasons, no justification. Giving away more money for less features cant be justified, also ignoring historical facts, like the DRM fiasco, content overlapping with PC, yada yada.

Anyway i should have made my first post more clear, people might have reasons to buy an Xbone, there is just no Justification.

Why do people care about this stuff so damn much.

IS it so hard to look back at the 360/ps3.

How much was it touted about which was stronger and by how much before release, during release, even during the 7 years they were out we still hear about it.

Yet just look at the games, they look the same. No system looks more powerful than the other.

It will be the same this gen, whether the ps4 or the xbone is more powerful and by how much. It does not matter, it will look the freaking same. Just like this generation.

Most of your point are debatable, "30% 40% or 50% more powerfull" means nothing if you can't clearly see that power difference in multiplatform games, and frankly I doubt you will see it. As for the best lineup it all comes down to personal preference. For me there is nothing in PS4 launch lineup that looks remotely attractive. The price can change, especially if they bring out a kinect-less sku (and I believe this will happen at some point).

Anyway why did people bought the PS3 in 2006? It had worse lineup, multiplats looked like cr@p and the price was absurd.

Brand loyalty, same will happen with the Xbone. Also note that X360 had many First party exclusive at the beginning but when the market was big enough they neglected the core gamers in favor of kinect games and now you can see at the end that they had no commitment (like sony still publishing first party game last tlou, beyond 2 souls and GT6 at the end of the consoles cycle), just like how they stopped supporting the original Xbox.

Does this mean, for the first time ever, Sony will have the most powerful system on the market?

I count it as the 4th.

After Wii U, XBox 1 and Ouya?

Suit yourself.

If that's a misunderstanding, then it's pretty funny.

Now can we please stop posting rumor threads about how Xbone might have a discrete GPU and the power difference is the same as current gen. On paper it's not, and devs have come out to say that the PS4 is in fact more powerful.

Now let's talk about games. Inb4 Xbox fans say "hes probably lying" etc.

Yet, the PS4 is less powerful than my 1 1/2 year old i7 desktop...who cares.  I am amazed by all the people who only care about how powerful it is.  It's about the games, not the power.  All the power in the world wont make a bad game good.  As for me, I own all the current and past systems and have favorites on every single system.  People who lock themselves into one companies systems are just hurting themselves, not anyone else.  Pretty naive really.

While I will be buying the PS4 and Xbox One at some point (first time since the NES for me not buying new systems at launch), the bickering on here over power is hilarious.  My i7 says hi to your puny little consoles :)....  Anyway, anyone who thinks that the power of the console is all inportant really isn't a true gamer.

That's exactly the thing. Why are they waiting? They should just talk already right? They can talk already. Or can they? Heavy rumor has it that MS has a nondisclosure agreement with AMD. That agreement ends when AMD talks on September 25th. The next day, MS VP Phil Harrison is at Eurogamer holding a developer conference streamed on Youtube. Hugest coincidence in gaming or maybe, just maybe something is there.

Microsoft scheduled their Eurogamer conference months before AMD even mentioned anything about new technology (I think i was sometime in April). You sir, are trying too hard.

Was this ignorant shit said about the $600+ console? Or just cause you don't favor MS?
