"from the publishers of Call of Duty and creators of halo"

that alone will sell destiny

halo fans who liked to play  co-op campaign with friends (a lot of people) will love destiny, that's for sure. probably also a reason why they make this kind of game, they saw how popular co-op campaign is in the halo games and a whole game based on this is just awesome.

not 100% sure if cod fans will like destiny but yeah, just saying that in an ad will get the attention for this game.

I do have to wonder why Vivendi seemed so eager to drop them. Unless they believe that, while still healthy on their own, Activision presents little to no opportunity for growth (as the thread asserts, though decline will likely be slow and easily averted if Activision finds any fresh blood)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

April fools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't fool me.

Activision is smart in that they have Destiny to grow as COD fades. Also, whatever Blizzard comes up with next will sell millions.

So you're suggesting it's a good thing that they transition from making non-stop COD titles, to non-stop Destiny titles?

Hrm.
Console Versions of Angry Birds, COD, Diablo, Monthly revenue from WoW subscriptions, Destiny, Skylanders and of course Starcraft 2.
Nah I think they'll be fine.

It's just that simple.

Vivendi needed the money to fund their other media business.

Absolutely.  Milk an idea while it's hot.  Then slow down production and release interemittent editions to capture nostalgia.  They could have semi-anual Destiny's and a COD mega-release every 4-5 years.  Other companies would dream of having that future, even if it is a little less than COD fever that has been going on for the last several years.  I bet they could even bring back Guitar Hero in a few years too and it would sell like hotcakes again.  There will be a whole new generation of kids who want to pretend they can play guitar.

Just like Apple (predicted failure of next idrone devices) this year should mark the year of Activisions demise.

With more competition than ever before, there is no way gamers will let activision get away with it. The COD game will probably do well, but investors will shit bricks when its nowhere near as big as the last 4 games.
