Forums - General - Goodbye Nokia! Mission accomplished Elop, you have destroyed Nokia and return back to Microsoft (fastest collapse of a industry market leader in the history of mankind)

Elop was a former Microsoft employee, he was Microsofts trojan horse in Nokia. He collapsed the company and sold it to Microsoft. Nokia was doing good before the transition to Windows phones:

Take my love, take my land..

I thought the rise of the blackberry killed Nokia as well as the iphone? I had no idea a former MS employee became Nokia CEO.

You are not the only one.

I've only seen Apple's iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones lol.

Yeah I dont follow phones lol I'm so dumb with them I brought a Sony phone cause I thought it was the only one that had the app to check psn profiles, the next day I tried it on my wifes Galaxy only to realize any smart phone could do it xD

This chart is probably accurate. But, that doesn't mean it represents the facts. You can set up a chart to show whatever point you want. If you want, you can make a chart that portrays the facts any way you want. If you read the industry articles related to Elop, you will find that most everyone thinks that he saved Nokia from certain collapse. The guy came on board the Titanic and sold off an asset to M$ for 8.5 Billion that was worth about $500 million when he took over. Looks like a good deal to Nokia's shareholders to me.

it was very obvious he was a trojan horse. droping memo (which had a chance at the time) and magically deciding to go with windows phone instead of andriod? andriod was free, andriod was more popular and last but not least andriod was better. somehow though he decided windows phone was the future for the company, and it bombed, hard. nobody in his right might would have picked windows phone over andriod unless they had an agenda behind it

Edit : fucked up with the name, it was Meego OS

Nokia was in a bad place when he took over anyway. Wasn't much that could have been done.

... this is the chart which was important prior to 2011

Nokia was going downhill.. especially with their smartphone.. the Nokia N97 went up against the iPhone.. their future was very bleak ..

people shouldn't let silly things like MS hate overlooking the simple facts..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

And Nokia aren't gone. MS didn't buy the company name.

They've sold their phone setup/patents - but still have tons of money and remain active in other areas of mobile communication that remain profitable, and cut off the area of their company that was losing money. Kind of the way people suggest Sony selling off their loss incurring TV division would improve the financial performance of the company and its other divisions as a whole.

The shareholders make more money when a company is profitable. A smaller, profit making company is preferable to a large, loss making company.

Nokia are happy, they've cut off the division that lost them billions last year, and added more billions to their warchest. MS are happy, they've just added 32000 people experienced in all levels of device production - added to their Devices division. And they're one step closer to being able to provide a truly vertical, cross platform OS and services suite - from business/network to consumer/client level. It's gonna be a big job, but this is a tremendously positive step.
