Forums - Microsoft - Are Xbox One Pre-orders making a come back?

Maybe a little.

But better to accept that this is a long haul. ONE will start significantly behind PS4, lets see how it plays out in the long run.

I totally agree. I also think people are putting too much emphasis on the launch and look too little towards future prospects, what potential these consoles have to succeed in the long run. And I have a feeling MS has a REALLY ambitious plan with X1 .

Do we know if the estimates on the number of perorders include MS store or the Sony equivalent? Because I have a feeling those numbers can be quite big...

What's the average amount of sales compared to pre-orders? IE when have pre-orders made much of a impact, especially compared to future sales.

Not just game wise. But the Wii U had over 1.2 million pre-orders at Gamestop alone, and look at what happened with console sales for that system.

Thats not true. People pre-ordered 1.2m WiiU GAMES, not consoles at Gamestop.

Thanks for the clarification but it still shows pre-orders don't draw conclusions to overall console/game success. But I am wrong on the pre-order mark that it was games and not consoles.

It's just that simple.

Total software preorder ratios PS4:ONE

Pre-order ratio end of June was 3.53:1

Pre-order ratio end of August is 1.54:1

so.

I think thats a yes actually.

You know it doesn't work like that. Forza, Dead Rising, Ryse didn't just come out of nowhere.

Edit: Not to mention that he is asking if One is making a come back. It could not be making a comeback, yet the ratio would still go down (because it would be getting closer to weekly PS4 pre-orders)

I don't know, they got 2 months to clean up the launch mistakes and hell of a lot Football games between then and now. Also Remember Xbox One is $100 more. So this is going to be really interesting for sure, no matter what happens. I just hope Wii U gets some sales this year, I own it and love it.

Hmm... My biggest question about the XBone still remains. Will it have longevity? We keep hearing all these great things about these great XBone launch window exclusives (the best of which are timed exclusive, no doubt), but M$ doesn't seem to want to talk much about the long haul, whereas Sony has already confirmed that their large collection of fantastic first party are all on board, making AAA titles for the system. Not to mention, the PS4 still has a huge edge in the Indie market so far. Something tells me the XBone will start off as more of a fad, where people buy it to enjoy the (seemingly) best next-gen version of CoD, and then go back to their older platforms because the system will either abandon AAA titles, or just focus on TV features. The US seems to be the only ground that'll be a tug-of-war match, but we'll see how the whole thing plays out.

This generation was already long enough. The 360 and PS3 will be on the market a good 9-10 years before support really dies off. People were screaming for next gen a few years ago, and now that It's out I'm sure It's here to stay for quite sometime.I think both the XB1 and PS4 will have a good 7+ years on the market just like before. Last gen has proven that game expenses are getting a tad bit high and most companies aren't willing to spend a lot of money on development. Look at how Square, Capcom, EA etc. are doing more and more phone/tablet games. The only wild card to me is Nintendo. If the Wii U doesn't take off with the price drop, more games, zelda bundle etc. in the face of the PS4/X1 then I can see Nintendo releasing another console in a few years which would be interesting.

I will add that they will push Illumi-room at some point, once this happens. I think xbox one will have a reboot and sales will explode.

Probably but the ps4 version still have a good chance to sell better WW first week, considering ps4 are higher in preorders than xbox one in europe, including UK.

illumi room wont happen.  its a hardware solution requiring projectors.

Thats one hell of an expensive peripheral.

But to the guy questioning longevity, when the 360 has lasted so long, I just roll my eyes.  This is just one of those old xbox arguments that get rolled out.

People forget the 360 has been out for a year longer and will celebrate its 8th birthday soon, entering its 9th year.

Why show it off?

Also I think they could make use out of people who don't use their kinect sensor. Make it so the The kinect plugs right into the device, essentially this would cut down cost and make the projector cheaper, while getting people to use their kinect sensor for something.  I would have to disagree. No reason to show it, if your not going to sell it at some point.
