it's amazing how the direct x exclusivity was even reported in the first place. the first place it was revealed was at build. microsoft clearly said "windows 8 and next gen consoles like the xbox one" .you tube build direct x11.2. it's good for microsoft since people clown on microsoft puny 32mb esram that if they use tiled resources. the videos show that reported 16mb was used to push up to 36gb through easy.

this is a better presentation that goes into detail the deference between the new tiled resources and the different variations. also showed it doing shadows.

This sounds like complete and utter rubbish imo.

1 & 2: DirectX 11.2 is MS' API (software). They can add support for 11.2 at a later date as the hardware will support it. On PC, DX11.2 on AMD's GCN chips (which the X1 GPU is based on) is supported via a driver update.

3: We also have screenshots of the motherboard which have been floating around the net since the reveal. No sign of a dedicated GPU.

4: He talks about sub-systems. A dedicated GPU is a lot more than a sub-system.

5: You can equally read that as APU/DGPU and X1 and PS4. I think that's more likely considering dual GPU has been possible with AMDs APUs for a while and he almost certainly would have worked on them.

6: What? The X1 has 700,000 more transistors than a 7970 (which has around 4.3 billion). The size comparisons are completely flawed.

7: Nothing about X1 in that slide. AMD have been pushing for this since they first brought out their first line of APUs. Not sure how this points to the X1 having a dual-GPU solution.

8: Really? They could be saying either way and I don't doubt that some of the less graphically heavy stuff will run equally (in visuals) with the PC versions .

Like I said, sounds like rubbish and wishful thinking. Guess we'll find out on the 29th. This would be MS' best kept secret in a long while if true.

That's DirectX11.2 feature set. DirectX11.2 is MS' propreitary API so the only way Sony would use it is if they licensed it from MS.

I'm almost 100% that they'll use their own API based on OpenGL 4.4. The features will be near enough identical though.

So now your asking "Why can't MS just come out and say this? Well, according to an Insider, there is a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) Between AMD-INTEL and Sony (Intel is involved because Intel and AMD cross license the x86 architecture). This NDA is supposed to end on September 29th. That's when MS should start talking.

It's a great rumor, I'm not getting my hopes up, but it really seems like MS is not telling us something.

This is not my article, nor my findings, nor do I have any idea whether they are true or not. But they are indeed VERY interesting. Some seem to have some merit, so I'll keep a wait-and-see approach for late September/October. Either way, I could care less, but it would be an interesting shitstorm if these ridiculous rumors are true.
