Forums - Nintendo - Bayonetta 2 will flop hard

. It's just a God of War / Devil May Cry clone guys, move on.

Except that it's better than either of those.

The thing is the Wii U doesn't have anything else like Bayonetta to build an audience for such a game. The PS3/360 have similar types of games, Bayonetta on the Wii U is basically just stuck on an island by itself.

I think it's just a token effort from Nintendo they wheel out once every 1-2 years to encourage third parties to make similar types of games, but they likely know themselves it's a game that's probably going to bomb.

On the flipside, that also means no competition from other big games in the genre.

I don't view that as much of a positive if there's no audience for that style of game to begin with there.

Similar types of games tend to help other types of games IMO, Saints Row is helped by GTA, Destiny will be helped by the other FPS games, Wii Sports/Party helped other party games on Wii, etc. etc. etc.

As long as you don't release the games too close to each other it's generally not a problem.

A lot of Wii U owners will be multiplatform gamers though, so they will not be cut off from these kind of games.

Being that it's not out yet, we can't call it either a clone or better .

I meant in terms of the first game, as that's what we have to judge the IP on so far.

Well lets wait and see how it does. From my experience, games that have little to no other similar types of games on the platforms tend to bomb, it's the same reason something like Banjo-Kazooie or Viva Pinata isn't a huge success on the XBox 360 (at least earlier in its lifespan when it was primarily targeted to teenager/older adult players).

Nintendo can barely be bothered to market things like NSMBU and Zelda: Skyward Sword properly either, this is probably going to have a tiny marketing budget to boot.

Everything has to start somewhere, how did GTA style games and FPS become popular in the beginning?

Nintendo marketing is indeed pretty awful, at least for Wii U. They seem to think all potential buyers watch Nintendo Direct. Whoever's in charge of their advertising needs to be fired.

GTA appealled pretty strongly to the tastes of the PS2 audience, being surprised that GTA could be successful on the PS2 would be like being surprised that something like Just Dance might do well on the Wii. Those types of franchsies just fit the main demographic of those consoles pretty well.

Funny how so many gamers don't care about the franchise but still feel the need to make comments about how bad it will sell lol

Well, it is a sales site, after all.

Who cares if it's a sales site, why comment on a game you have no interest in, just shows your butt hurt, I don't comment on posts or games I have no interested in.

that last part is probably not true. But thats besides the point. Its a forum on a game website, meant for discussing. The fact you are even in this thread tells me you must be the one butthurt. The general consensus is that the game will flop. Thats coming from people who have little or a lot of interest in it, dont need to like Bayo to see that.

Oniyide, :) If you didn't post comments on games you have no interest in buying, you wouldn't come to vgchartz at all. Take a look at your post history... it's 100% Nintendo. Quite the obsession.
