Similar types of games tend to help other types of games IMO, Saints Row is helped by GTA, Destiny will be helped by the other FPS games, Wii Sports/Party helped other party games on Wii, etc. etc. etc.

As long as you don't release the games too close to each other it's generally not a problem.

A lot of Wii U owners will be multiplatform gamers though, so they will not be cut off from these kind of games.


Well lets wait and see how it does. From my experience, games that have little to no other similar types of games on the platforms tend to bomb, it's the same reason something like Banjo-Kazooie or Viva Pinata isn't a huge success on the XBox 360 (at least earlier in its lifespan when it was primarily targeted to teenager/older adult players).

Nintendo can barely be bothered to market things like NSMBU and Zelda: Skyward Sword properly either, this is probably going to have a tiny marketing budget to boot.
