I actually have a feeling piracy has little to do with software sales, but that might just be me >_>;; I still put cost above all else.

and come on, on DS only casual thing is selling, don`t lie to yourself.
remove all mario, brain training and nintendo dog stuff, and you will see, how poor sales of real hardcore games are.

How is Mario casual? Anyway I deleted Training games, Cooking Mama, The Sims, and Mario Party games. Even with every one of those games gone, the DS software sales total more than 3 times the million selling software sales on the PSP. So here's a crazzy idea for you, stop spouting off BS. I'm tired of you making up crap Crazzy. Learn to debate without constantly lying, or stop posting on this site.

I agree, piracy is not the cause of low PSP software sales. Why would people buy PSP software if they can get the similar games on PS2 at the similar price? Sony created a money cow monster (PS2) to print money, but on the other hand, drag the PSP software sale down.

Nonetheless, I think the situation will get better. More games are coming in 2008-2009. My shopping list for PSP games has increased from 6 to 15 since the released of PSP slim. More and more Japanese developers keep announceing new games for PSP and that is a good sign.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

Cherry Picking: the act of pointing at individual cases or data that seem to confirm a particular position, while ignoring a significant portion of related cases or data that may contradict that position.

Every game will not sell on every system.  I could point you to some great games on the PSP that have flopped hard enough to make a developer cry (Jeanne D'Arc: First week 5,001 units).  A few games amongst dozens of successes does not a trend make.  Your actions could be placed in an encyclopedia under cherry picking.

That's the whole point of a portable. People want to play games that don't require huge investments of time while on the go. If the PSP doesn't have good PORTABLE games, there is nobody to blame but Sony and the developers. What makes a game good on a home console does not translate into a good PORTABLE game.

I use my psp pretty well exclusively to play mp3s etc.

waiting for patapon though.

I already have a ds for playing games on, and the load times for games i've played on the psp have been too frustrating.

I have to agree with ChronoTriggerJM about the price. Here in Canada, futureshop sells the top tier psp games for up to 49$. Top tier DS games are 39$. Every single psp game I own were bought during buy 1 get 1 free sales. Its not that I don't want to support PSP software, but I find it hard to justify the price of the games when I can spend 5$ more and get a new release PS3 game.

So drop the price of software to match the DS's, and I will buy more games. The strategy of charging more for software to compensate for piracy (my assumption) is dissuading me from buying more games.

I do wonder how many sales new games are loosing out on due to ps1 games that can be downloaded of the PS Store too.

@fishyjoe

Not that i aprove of software piracy but in some countrys(like mine) its perfectly legal to share like the user above said. you wont get in jail or get any trouble for it. its only illegal to spread the software here but you can download it allyou want.
